A multi-stage matching network filter circuit device. The device comprises bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonator device having an input node, an output node, and a ground node. A first matching network circuit is coupled to the input node. A second matching network circuit is coupled to the output node. A ground connection network circuit coupled to the ground node. The first or second matching network circuit can include an inductive ladder network including a plurality of series inductors in a series configuration and a plurality of grounded inductors wherein each of the plurality of grounded inductors is coupled to the connection between each connected pair of series inductors. The inductive ladder network can include one or more LC tanks, wherein each of the one or more LC tanks is coupled between a connection between a series inductor and a subsequent series inductor, which is also coupled to a grounded inductor.

Method and structure for single crystal acoustic resonator devices using thermal recrystallization

A method of manufacture and structure for an acoustic resonator device having a hybrid piezoelectric stack with a strained single crystal layer and a thermally-treated polycrystalline layer. The method can include forming a strained single crystal piezoelectric layer overlying the nucleation layer and having a strain condition and piezoelectric layer parameters, wherein the strain condition is modulated by nucleation growth parameters and piezoelectric layer parameters to improve one or more piezoelectric properties of the strained single crystal piezoelectric layer. Further, the method can include forming a polycrystalline piezoelectric layer overlying the strained single crystal piezoelectric layer, and performing a thermal treatment on the polycrystalline piezoelectric layer to form a recrystallized polycrystalline piezoelectric layer. The resulting device with this hybrid piezoelectric stack exhibits improved electromechanical coupling and wide bandwidth performance.

Acoustic resonator and method of manufacturing thereof

An acoustic resonator includes: a substrate; a resonant portion including a center portion in which a first electrode, a piezoelectric layer, and a second electrode are sequentially stacked on the substrate, and an extension portion disposed along a periphery of the center portion; and a first metal layer disposed outwardly of the resonant portion to be electrically connected to the first electrode. The extension portion includes a lower insertion layer disposed on an upper surface of the first electrode or a lower surface of the first electrode. The piezoelectric layer includes a piezoelectric portion disposed in the center portion, and a bent portion disposed in the extension portion and extended from the piezoelectric portion at an incline according to a shape of the lower insertion layer. The lower insertion layer is formed of a conductive material extending an electrical path between the first electrode and the first metal layer.

PIEZOELECTRIC ELEMENT

A piezoelectric element includes a second electrode layer on a second surface of a single-crystal piezoelectric layer. A hole continuous with a through-hole is provided in the second electrode layer. The second electrode layer is made of Pt, Ti, Al, Cu, Au, Ag, Mg, or an alloy including at least one of the metals as a main ingredient. A third electrode layer is on one side of the second electrode layer opposite to the single-crystal piezoelectric layer. The third electrode layer includes at least a portion outside of an edge of the hole with a distance maintained relative to the edge of the hole when viewed in a direction perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the second surface. The third electrode layer is made of Ni or an alloy including Ni as a main ingredient.

Method for generating high order harmonic frequencies and MEMS resonator

A method for generating high order harmonic frequencies includes: providing a piezoelectric resonant film; and inputting a driving signal with a single tone frequency for driving the piezoelectric resonant film to oscillate in a non-linear region so as to generate a plurality of high order harmonic frequencies. Therefore, the quantity of the high order harmonic frequencies can be adjusted by applying an electrical controlling method.

RF filtering circuitry comprises a first node, a second node, and a series signal path between the first node and the second node. A number of acoustic resonators are coupled to one or more of the first node and the second node via the series signal path. A first one of the acoustic resonators is associated with a first quality factor and a first electromechanical coupling coefficient. A second one of the acoustic resonators is associated with a second quality factor and a second electromechanical coupling coefficient. The first quality factor is different from the second quality factor and the first electromechanical coupling coefficient is different from the second electromechanical coupling coefficient.

Acoustic resonator devices and filters are disclosed. An acoustic resonator includes a substrate and a piezoelectric plate supported by the substrate. A portion of the piezoelectric plate suspended across a cavity in the substrate forms a diaphragm. A decoupling dielectric layer is on a front surface of the diaphragm. An interdigital transducer (IDT) has interleaved fingers on the decoupling dielectric layer over the diaphragm. The IDT and piezoelectric plate are configured such that a radio frequency signal applied to the IDT excites shear acoustic waves in the diaphragm.

5 & 6 GHz Wi-Fi COEXISTENCE ACOUSTIC WAVE RESONATOR RF DIPLEXER CIRCUIT

An RF diplexer circuit device using modified lattice, lattice, and ladder circuit topologies. The diplexer can include a pair of filter circuits, each with a plurality of series resonator devices and shunt resonator devices. In the ladder topology, the series resonator devices are connected in series while shunt resonator devices are coupled in parallel to the nodes between the resonator devices. In the lattice topology, a top and a bottom serial configurations each includes a plurality of series resonator devices, and a pair of shunt resonators is cross-coupled between each pair of a top serial configuration resonator and a bottom serial configuration resonator. The modified lattice topology adds baluns or inductor devices between top and bottom nodes of the top and bottom serial configurations of the lattice configuration. A multiplexing device or inductor device can be configured to select between the signals coming through the first and second filter circuits.

Piezoelectric MEMS Resonators based on Porous Silicon Technologies

A piezoelectric MEMS resonator is provided. The resonator comprises a single crystal silicon microstructure suspended over a buried cavity created in a silicon substrate and a piezoelectric resonance structure located on the microstructure. The resonator is designed and fabricated based on porous silicon related technologies including selective formation and etching of porous silicon in silicon substrate, porous silicon as scarified material for surface micromachining and porous silicon as substrate for single crystal silicon epitaxial growth. All these porous silicon related technologies are compatible with CMOS technologies and can be conducted in a standard CMOS technologies platform.
