Data transmitter
A data transmitter includes an encoder configured to encode first data to be transmitted, in accordance with an encoding rule and a transmitter configured to transmit the encoded first data. The encoder makes a change to the encoding rule, encodes the first data in accordance with the change in the encoding rule, and incorporates second data having content corresponding to the change in the encoding rule, into the first data.
Maximum transition avoidance (MTA) encoding
A PAM-4 communication process divides a full burst of raw data into two half bursts, extracts a bit from each half burst and communicating the extracted bit on a DBI line, and encodes the remaining bits of the half burst to avoid maximum transitions between PAM-4 symbols on a data line.
DIRECT MAPPING
A single-bit audio stream can be converted to a modified single-bit audio stream with a constant edge rate while maintaining a modulation index of the original audio stream using direct mapping. With direct mapping, a pre-filter bank may be combined with a multi-bit symbol mapper to select symbols for the modified audio stream with a constant edge rate per symbol and the same modulation index as the original audio stream. The output of the pre-filter bank may be an audio stream with no consecutive full-scale symbols. Using the output of the pre-filter bank, a multi-bit symbol mapper may use the symbol selector to output a symbol with a constant edge rate per symbol and the same modulation index as the original signal. The symbols may be converted to an analog signal for reproduction of audio content using a transducer.

Low overhead transition encoding codes
A processing circuit configured to: receive original data; partition the original data into a plurality of original q-bit words; assemble a data packet including N original q-bit words from the plurality of original q-bit words; identify a first encoder value and a second encoder value that are absent from the values of the N original q-bit words; encode the N original q-bit words based on a one-to-one mapping from q-bit original values to q-bit encoded values based on the first encoder value and the second encoder value to generate N encoded q-bit payload words, the N encoded q-bit payload words being free of words that are all-zeroes and free of words that are all-ones; generate a key representing the first encoder value and the second encoder value; and transmit the key and the N encoded q-bit payload words.
ENCODING AND DECODING COMPLEX DATA
It is provided a method for encoding complex data. The method includes the steps of: obtaining an input signal made up of a series of numerically represented samples; determining a time frame of the input signal to process; applying a first window function on data in the time frame, resulting in first windowed data, wherein the first window function tapers sample magnitude towards the edges of the first window function; performing a windowed complex discrete Fourier-related transform on the first windowed data, resulting in frequency-domain data including a plurality of coefficients, keeping only the real part or the imaginary part of each coefficient; quantizing the frequency domain data resulting in quantized data; outputting the quantized data as encoded data; and repeating the method, wherein each subsequent iteration of the step of determining a time frame includes determining a time frame that overlaps in time with a preceding time frame.
VECTOR SIGNALING CODE WITH IMPROVED NOISE MARGIN
Methods are described allowing a vector signaling code to encode multi-level data without the significant alphabet size increase known to cause symbol dynamic range compression and thus increased noise susceptibility. By intentionally restricting the number of codewords used, good pin efficiency may be maintained along with improved system signal-to-noise ratio.
