A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an audio control apparatus having a game audio port for receiving a gaming audio signal generated by a gaming application, a chat port for receiving a chat signal comprising audio information generated by at least one gamer, and an audio system coupled to the game audio port and the chat port. The audio system can be operable to detect an energy level in the chat signal that exceeds a threshold, reduce a magnitude of the gaming audio signal to a desired audio energy level responsive to the aforementioned detection, generate a mixed audio signal comprising a combination of the gaming audio signal having the reduced magnitude and the chat signal, and transmit the mixed audio signal to a listening apparatus. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
Entertainment apparatus, light emission controlling apparatus, operation device, light emission controlling method and program
A light emission controlling apparatus, an operation device, a light emission controlling method and a program that facilitate understanding of identification information associated with the operation device are disclosed. The light emission controlling apparatus includes an identification information specification unit that specifies the identification information associated with the operation device. A specific light emission region specification unit specifies a specific light emission region that is part of a light emission region set to the operation device, the specific light emission region according to the identification information. A light emission controlling unit controls such that at least part of the light emission region emits light in such a manner that a color according to the identification information and the specific light emission region are recognizable.
User-input control device toggled motion tracking
On a computing system, a method includes receiving a depth video, producing a machine-understandable model of a player interacting with a user-input control device from the depth video, controlling operation of the computing system without influence of the machine-understandable model responsive to receiving a control signal from a user-input control device while the user-input control device is in an attached state, and controlling operation of the computing system with influence of the machine-understandable model responsive to receiving the control signal from the user-input control device while the user-input control device is in a detached state.
LIGHT EFFECT CONTROL
A light effect control method, computer program product and device are presented which allow an application to render a light effect by a networked lighting system based on the method, computer program product or device receiving an event being from the application. To provide a better user experience, light effects related to certain events need to be rendered even if a delay in rendering is expected whereas light effects related to other events need to be rendered without delay or else not rendered at all. As such, a decision is made to execute a first or a second scenario based on the event type of the event received and/or the capacity of the networked lighting system, wherein in the first scenario the lighting control command is always sent to the networked lighting system and in the second scenario the lighting control command is only sent to the networked lighting system if no unacceptable delay in rendering the light effect is expected.
DEVICES FOR CONTROLLING COMPUTERS BASED ON MOTIONS AND POSITIONS OF HANDS
Disclosed herein is a data input device and method of operating the same. In one embodiment, a data input device comprises a plurality of inertial sensor units, one or more touch input devices, a microcontroller configured to collect sensor data from the inertial sensors and the one or more touch input devices and process the sensor data to generate processed sensor data, and a wireless transceiver configured to transmit the processed sensor data to a host computer. In another embodiment, a method comprises receiving sensor data from a handheld device; calculating hand movement characteristics in three dimensional space based on the sensor data; calculating the position and orientation of the components of the handheld device; identifying positions and movements of one or more fingers of a user manipulating the handheld device; identifying a gesture from the positions and movements of one or more fingers of a user manipulating the handheld device; identifying a recognized gesture corresponding to the identified gesture; and dispatching an event notifying the gesture to an application.
Control device for communicating visual information
Methods and systems for processing input by a computing device are presented. One method includes operations for receiving images of a control device that includes an object section, and for determining a location of the control device utilizing image analysis for each captured image. Additionally, the movement of the control device is tracked based on the determined locations, where the tracking of the movement includes receiving inertial sensor information obtained by sensors in the control device, and determining an orientation of the control device based on the sensor information. Additionally, the method includes an operation for translating the movement and orientation of the control device into input for a game executing in the computing device, where the input is translated into a motion and orientation of an object in the game based on the movement of the control device.

VIBRATION CONTROL SYSTEM, VIBRATION CONTROL METHOD, VIBRATION OUTPUT APPARATUS, GAME CONTROLLER, STORAGE MEDIUM HAVING STORED THEREIN VIBRATION OUTPUT PROGRAM, VIBRATION OUTPUT METHOD, VIBRATION CONTROL APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM HAVING STORED THEREIN VIBRATION CONTROL PROGRAM
Vibration instruction data transmitted from another apparatus is received, data related to the vibration instruction data is stored in a memory, and a vibration apparatus is vibrated using the data stored in the memory. On the other hand, vibration state data indicating a vibration state of the vibration apparatus is generated, and the vibration state data is transmitted to the other apparatus.
VIBRATION CONTROL SYSTEM, VIBRATION OUTPUT APPARATUS, STORAGE MEDIUM HAVING STORED THEREIN VIBRATION OUTPUT PROGRAM, AND VIBRATION OUTPUT METHOD
Vibration instruction data for vibrating a vibration apparatus is received from another apparatus, data related to the received vibration instruction data is stored in a memory, and the vibration apparatus is vibrated using the data stored in the memory. Then, as an example, a state of the data related to the vibration instruction data stored in the memory is detected, and when the state of the data satisfies a predetermined condition, predetermined data related to the vibration instruction data is additionally stored in the memory. As another example, when the vibration instruction data cannot be received from the other apparatus, predetermined data related to the vibration instruction data is additionally stored in the memory.
