A method includes sending, by a master beacon device and one or more beacon repeater devices, ultra-wideband (UWB) beacon frames. The UWB beacon frames are transmitted as interleaved pairs of UWB beacon frames. Each interleaved pair includes a first UWB beacon frame and a second UWB beacon frame. For each interleaved pair, the first UWB beacon frame and the second UWB beacon frame are transmitted with a master time delay. The method further includes receiving, by one or more tag devices, at least one of the interleaved pairs of UWB beacon frames.

The operating method includes a first electronic device performing operations including transmitting a ranging control message including block striding information to a second electronic device, determining whether to perform hopping based on a result of transmitting the ranging control message, determining a hopping round value based on a result of determining whether to perform the hopping and the block striding information, and performing ranging with the second electronic device based on the block striding information and the hopping round value.

In an electronic device and an operation method thereof according to certain embodiments, the electronic device may include: a first communication circuit configured to perform a first communication using an ultra-wide band (UWB) communication scheme and a processor. The processor may control the communication circuit to: identify, based on a characteristic of data to be transmitted using the first communication circuit, a frame length of the data to be transmitted; determine, based on the identified frame length, a peak voltage of a signal containing the data to be transmitted; and transmit the data using the signal having the determined peak voltage.

In an embodiment a real-time location method includes sending and receiving ultra-wideband frames using an exchange protocol based on an ultra-wideband frame format, wherein the exchange protocol defines a location rate frame format including a beacon section having a series of time slots associated to at least one frame of interleaved pairs of beacon frames, wherein a first beacon frame and a second beacon frame of each pair are separated in time by a master time delay, and wherein, between time slots assigned to the beacon frames of an opening pair having an initial one of the beacon frames within the beacon section, an array of time slots is respectively assigned to the first beacon frames of the remaining pairs, and a tag response section including a sequence of time slots associated to tag response frames.

ULTRA WIDEBAND (UWB) LINK CONFIGURATION METHODS AND SYSTEMS
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is a wireless technology for the transmission of large amounts of digital data as modulated coded impulses over a very wide frequency spectrum with very low power over a short distance. However, to support their deployment in a wide range of applications it would be beneficial to provide solutions which: exploit multiple directive antennas oriented in different directions to ensure spatial filtering of undesired signals and increase signal strength; exploit dynamic configuration of the multi-pulse bundles employed to transmit the bits/symbols within the packets to enhance link quality of service; exploit dynamic configuration of the band or bands which the transmitter operates upon; and exploit antenna sub-systems providing omnidirectional radiation patterns with implementations offering filtering and balun functions with small footprint and low cost.
Occupancy sensing using ultra-wide band

Channel impulse response (CIR) measurements are received from a plurality of UWB transceiver nodes arranged about a plurality of locations. A classification model it utilized to predict occupancy of each of the plurality of locations based on CIR tensors formed from the CIR measurements for each of the UWB transceiver nodes.
