System for modifying and targeting advertising content of internet radio broadcasts

A radio station transmits its broadcast audio content, including audible advertisements, to listeners over the Internet via an Internet Hosting Service that provides listener access to radio station content. A computing system at the radio station digitizes the audio, and supplies marking information that identifies the beginning and duration of commercials. The digital marking information is supplied with the radio station's audio to the Internet Hosting Service. The Internet Hosting Service maintains a repository of replacement audio commercials along with information about the commercials including duration. Upon receiving the digital marker indicating the presence of a commercial, the Internet Hosting Service selects a replacement commercial of comparable duration from its repository. The Internet Hosting Service then substitutes the replacement commercial for the original broadcast commercial and produces an edited audio program for delivery to the listeners that carries advertising of higher value than the original advertising.

The method also includes transmitting at least one program channel via the modified at least one multicast stream.

A particular signature signal, from a plurality of signature signals, may be determined based on a feedback signal corresponding to an audio output signal of the media player, and based on the determined signature signal, a media feed of a plurality of media feeds may be selected. An input signal configured for the media player may then be transmitted, with the input signal including a plurality of channels, and the selected media feed being conveyed over one of the plurality of channels associated with the determined signature signal. The signature signals may include audio frequency signals and/or acoustic signals inaudible to human hearing. The feedback signal may be an electrical, a wireless or an optical signal.

There is at least display device in the form of a holographic projector connected to the receiver for displaying a 3D holographic image received from the internet. The processor selects images that correspond with the signals played by the speaker. The speaker projects the sound into certain areas of the environment, so that it appears that the sound is coming from a place other than the actual speaker itself. A holographic projector connected to the processor projects a 3D holographic image onto the place from which the sound appears to originate, rather than on the actual speaker itself.

In one embodiment, the candidates are determined to be accurate when temporally ordered fingerprints exceed a predetermined threshold, adjacent audio stream segments are determined to have the same best song candidate, and the determined song detection has not been previously detected in the data stream within a predetermined period of time.
