Methods and systems for content navigation among programs presenting advertising content
09854306 · 2017-12-26 · ·

Systems and methods for aiding user content navigation are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may additionally include one or more outputs coupled with a display device. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more navigation functions to receive a channel change command to adjust from a first channel to a second channel. The one or more processors may further be caused to determine that the second channel is presenting advertising content instead of program content, and determine that a third channel is presenting program content. The one or more processors may further be caused to adjust the output to the third channel.

Determining Popularity Ratings Using Social and Interactive Applications for Mass Media
20170366847 · 2017-12-21 · ·

Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products provide social and interactive applications for mass media based on real time ambient-audio and/or video identification. In some implementations, a method includes: receiving descriptors identifying ambient audio associated with a media broadcast; comparing the descriptors to one or more reference descriptors; and determining a rating for the media broadcast based at least in part on the results of the comparison.

Scientific system and method for optimizing television advertising
11683109 · 2023-06-20 · ·

A scientific system and methods are disclosed for optimizing television (e.g., “CTV” and “OTT”) advertising and related expenditure to maximize efficiency and return on investment (“ROI’) for advertisers. The scientific system comprises an initial-feedback engine that develops and refines creatives or outcomes by creating and using an artificial intelligence (“AI”) engine that creates an initial feedback loop from social media platforms and subsequently uses an intelligent advertisement-selection engine that takes the highest performing advertising on the social media platforms and directs or imports them for connected television or over-the-top advertising. The system includes a performance engine that optimizes performance of the connected television and over-the-top advertising and then moves the winning combination of a creative or outcome resulting from the application inventory, the audience segment, the part of day, the frequency or the like to linear television purchase actions.

ELECTRONIC DISPLAY REMOTE IMAGE VERIFICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
20170346584 · 2017-11-30 ·

A system and method for remotely verifying images shown on an electronic display is provided. A processor may direct a screen capture device to take a screen capture of the image currently shown on the electronic display. The screen capture may be stored on an electronic storage device and may be transferred to a networked database via a network connection device. A client may be able to access the screen captures through a user interface in connectivity with the networked database.

Accelerated television advertisement identification

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to credit commercial broadcasts are disclosed. Example commercial crediting apparatus disclosed herein compare first identification information and first timing information obtained from a first monitored data feed with second identification information and second timing information in a second monitored data feed to identify a first final distributor code represented in the second monitoring data feed, the first identification information and the first timing information corresponding to a first commercial represented in the first monitored data feed. Disclosed example apparatus also access data that maps a first original distributor code to the first final distributor code, identify the first commercial in lineup data based on the first original distributor code, and adjust, based on a duration of the first commercial, a duration obtained for a first media program listed in the lineup data.

Television advertisement reach and frequency management
09723336 · 2017-08-01 · ·

The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a method that includes receiving at a television processing device an airing schedule for a specified advertisement. The airing schedule includes data specifying past airings of the specified advertisement, a local frequency at which the specified advertisement is to be shown, and a schedule of airings of replaceable advertisements. The device determines, from viewing log data, whether the local frequency for the specified advertisement has been achieved. If the local frequency has not been achieved, the specified advertisement is aired in place of a replaceable advertisement when the television processing device is tuned to a channel of a scheduled airing of the replaceable advertisement at a time of the scheduled airing, and the local frequency of the specified advertisement is incremented. Otherwise, the replaceable advertisement is presented.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH MEDIA PRESENTATIONS
20220046316 · 2022-02-10 ·

Methods and apparatus to detect commercial advertisements associated with media presentations are disclosed. An example method involves receiving a video frame and detecting a change in box-formatting between the video frame and a subsequent video frame. A transition between the video frame and the subsequent video frame is indicated as a commercial advertisement transition based on the detected change in box-formatting.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SUPERVISED AND UNSUPERVISED DETECTION OF TELEVISION ADVERTISEMENTS
20170264969 · 2017-09-14 ·

A system and method for detecting one or more advertisements broadcast on a channel in real time includes a step of extracting a first set of audio fingerprints and a first set of video fingerprints. The first set of audio fingerprints and the first set of video fingerprints correspond to a media content broadcast on the channel. The method also includes a step of generating a set of digital signature values. The set of digital signature values corresponds to an extracted set of video fingerprints. The method also includes a step of detecting the one or more advertisements broadcast on the channel with the processor. The first set of video fingerprints and the audio fingerprints is extracted sequentially in the real time.

CONTENT DISTRIBUTION SERVER, CONTENT DISTRIBUTION METHOD AND CONTENT DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM
20210400319 · 2021-12-23 ·

A content distribution server, includes: a communicator that receives live contents transmitted through a network NW from a distributor terminal used by a distributor of a live content; a designator that designates an area in the live content, where another content is superimposed and played; a selector that selects the other content to be played in the area designated; and a controller that generates a distribution content by superimposing the other content selected by the selector in the area designated by the designator in the live content, wherein the communicator distributes the distribution content to a viewer terminal through the network NW.
