System and method for identifying the context of multimedia content elements
A method and system for determining a current context of a multimedia content element are provided. The method includes receiving at least one multimedia content element from a user device; receiving at least one environmental variable related to the at least one multimedia content element; generating at least one signature for the multimedia content element; determining a context of the at least one multimedia content element based on the at least one contextual parameter; and determining the current context of the at least one multimedia content element based on at least one contextual parameter and the determined context.
System for trend discovery and curation from content metadata and context
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method that includes obtaining metadata from media content and consumed by network subscribers; determining for each network subscriber a consumer context associated with the media content; and determining a media consumption pattern for each network subscriber based on the metadata and the consumer context, thereby generating a plurality of media consumption patterns. The method further includes aggregating the media consumption patterns; determining, based on the aggregated media consumption patterns, a media consumption trend for the network subscribers; and correlating the media consumption trend with a profile including a current activity for a network subscriber of the plurality of network subscribers, thereby generating a recommendation for the network subscriber regarding new media content not previously consumed by the network subscriber. The method also includes communicating the recommendation to the network subscriber. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Deterministic household assignment model
Techniques for projecting household-level viewing events are described herein. Population data may be accessed including classes of a plurality of demographic attributes for households in a market. Representative household units (RHUs) may be generated, and the RHUs may be assigned a class for each of the demographic attributes and a quota based on the demographic attributes of a plurality of panelist households. Each of the panelist households may be assigned to one of the RHUs based on at least one panelist classes matching the classes for respective demographic attributes of the RHU, and the number of matching panelist households assigned to each of the RHU may be based on the quota. Panelist viewing data representing viewing events associated with the panelist household may be accessed. A report may be generated with the classes of the RHUs and the panelist viewing data of the assigned panelist households.

Identification of concurrently broadcast time-based media
A real time messaging platform identifies an audio snippet of a time-based media (TBM) event. The messaging platform maintains a real time repository of concurrently broadcasting TBM events as well as a historical repository of previously broadcast TBM events. These repositories contain acoustic fingerprints of their respective TBM events. The messaging platform matches an acoustic fingerprint of the audio snippet with one of the stored acoustic fingerprints to identify the TBM event in the recorded snippet. To identify the TBM event, the messaging platform matches multiple overlapping reference audio segments of the reference audio stream with multiple test audio segments of the audio snippet. This allows the platform to account for time delays between the test and reference audio segments that would otherwise hinder the matching process.

User-requested message transmission to devices near a second device
An electronic device of the invention is configured to allow a user of a first device to request transmission of a message, obtain a location of a second device, and transmit the message to devices within a certain range of the second device. The first device may be carried by a person who wants to retrieve a missing person, animal, or object. The second device may be carried by the missing person or missing animal or attached to or incorporated into the missing object. The message may be transmitted by the first device, by the second device, and/or by an Internet server, for example.
