09860888 · 2018-01-02 · ·

A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The apparatus performs LBRM. Before performing LBRM, the apparatus reports a plurality of UE categories to an eNB. In addition, the apparatus determines whether signaling in relation to the UE categories is received from the eNB. In addition, the apparatus selects a UE category from the plurality of UE categories based on the reported UE categories and the signaling in relation to the UE categories. In addition, the apparatus determines a total number of soft channel bits to use for LBRM at the UE based on the selected UE category. Subsequently, the apparatus performs LBRM based on the determined total number of soft channel bits.

Light-weight, configurable error detection in a satellite communication system that detects invalid SerDes lanes via hash codes appended to packets of data in the lanes. An indication can be passed back upstream about the invalid lane so that the lane can be reset. Error correction can be provided by reconstructing the bit data in the invalid SerDes lane based on parity information in an optional parity lane.

TECHNIQUES FOR ADAPTING A RATE OF DATA TRANSMISSION
20170171780 · 2017-06-15 ·

Techniques for determining whether to adapt rates of data transmissions during point-to-point (P2P) communications are described. In an aspect, methods and apparatuses are described in which a transmitter device may identify a new rate of data transmission for a P2P connection with a receiver device, the new rate of data transmission being greater than a current rate of data transmission. Further, in an aspect, the transmitter device may determine a difference between a sensitivity of the receiver device associated with the current rate of data transmission and a sensitivity of the receiver device associated with the new rate of data transmission. Additionally, the transmitter device may compare the difference with one or more sensitivity thresholds. Finally, the transmitter device, based on the comparison, may determine whether to apply the new rate of data transmission to the P2P connection.

System and method for monitoring a connection of an end-user device to a network

A method of monitoring the connection of a first end-user device to a network includes determining the amount of bandwidth present, tracking the amount of bandwidth in use by different classes of traffic, and tracking performance of the connection to detect when a threshold crossing has been reached. The method also includes transmitting a query to the first end-user device in response to the determined reaching of the threshold, the query requesting from a user of the first end-user device a communication action to perform based on the threshold being reached. The method further includes changing the communications session between the first end-user device and the network in accordance with the received communication action.

Optical transmission device and optical transmission system

An optical transmission device includes an error correction scheme determining unit, an error correction encoder, a modulation format determining unit and an optical transmitter. The error correction scheme determining unit determines an error correction scheme based on a latency between the optical transmission device and a correspondent device. The error correction encoder generates encoded data by performing an error correction encoding on transmission data using the error correction scheme determined by the error correction scheme determining unit. The modulation format determining unit determines a modulation format based on the error correction scheme determined by the error correction scheme determining unit and transmission characteristics between the optical transmission device and the correspondent device. The optical transmitter generates a modulated optical signal from the encoded data with the modulation format determined by the modulation format determining unit.

Systems and methods for dynamically adapting quality levels of content is disclosed herein. A content transmission system determines whether to reduce streaming bandwidth of a device that transmits content. In response to determining to reduce the streaming bandwidth, the content transmission system identifies a first plurality of frames of the content based on a first context and a second plurality of frames of the content based on a second context. The content transmission system transmits the first plurality of frames at a first quality level based on the first context and the second plurality of frames at a second quality level that is higher than the first quality level based on the second context.
