The invention relates to methods for informing an eNodeB on the transmit power status of a user equipment in a mobile communication system using component carrier (CC) aggregation. Furthermore, the invention is also related to the implementation of these methods by hardware and their implementation in software. The invention proposes procedures that allow the eNodeB to recognize the power usage status of a UE in a communication system using carrier aggregation. The UE indicates to the eNodeB, when the UE is close to using its total maximum UE transmit power or when it has exceeded same. This is achieved by the UE including indicator(s) and/or new MAC CEs to one or more protocol data units transmitted on respective component carriers within a single sub-frame that is providing the eNodeB with power status information. The MAC CEs may report a per-UE power headroom. Alternatively, the MAC CEs may report per-CC power headrooms and/or power reductions applied to the respective uplink CCs.

An apparatus and method providing feedback on channel conditions in a wireless telecommunications system including a base station to communicate with plural terminals device using frequencies spanning a system frequency bandwidth. At least one terminal device is a reduced capability terminal device including a tuneable transceiver configured to receive downlink transmissions from the base station using only a restricted frequency bandwidth smaller than and within the system frequency bandwidth. The reduced capability terminal device is configured to communicate information derived from measurements of channel conditions to the base station. The information may include an indication of measured channel conditions for different frequency locations, or an indication of one or more frequency locations for which corresponding measurement of channel conditions meet a pre-defined selection criterion. The base station subsequently schedules downlink transmissions for the terminal device in a manner that takes account of the information received from the terminal device.

In wireless communication networks using carrier aggregation including a secondary component carrier in unlicensed spectrum, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a downlink radio link quality of secondary cells for an event indicating failure of a communication link in the unlicensed spectrum with a secondary cell. The UE detects one or more failure events based on the downlink radio link quality. When a designated set of failure events is detected, the UE declares a failure state on the secondary cell. In response to the failure state, the UE may adjust operations related to the secondary component carrier in the unlicensed spectrum in order to save power and resources.

One method includes, in response to an assignment group comprising a first assignment: determining a first data channel allocation comprising resources allocated to a first data channel; determining a first DMRS symbol location associated with the first data channel based on the first assignment, a first set of OFDM symbols, and a second set of OFDM symbols; and decoding the first data channel. The method includes, in response to the assignment group comprising a second assignment: determining a second data channel allocation comprising resources allocated to a second data channel; determining a second DMRS symbol location associated with the second data channel based on the second assignment, the first set of OFDM symbols, and the second set of OFDM; and decoding the second data channel.
