Transceiver unit and communication control unit for a user station of a serial bus system and method for communication in a serial bus system
A transceiver unit for a user station of a serial bus system. The transceiver unit has a first connection for receiving a transmit signal from a communication control unit, a transmitter for transmitting the transmit signal to a bus of the bus system, a receiver for receiving the signal from the bus, the receiver generating a digital receive signal from the signal received from the bus, a second connection for transmitting the digital receive signal to the communication control unit and for receiving an additional signal from the communication control unit, and an operating mode switching block for evaluating the receive signal output by the receiver and a signal received at the second connection by the communication control unit. The operating mode switching block switches the transmitter and/or the receiver into one of at least two different operating modes as a function of a result of the evaluation.
OBD interface bus type detection method and apparatus
The present invention provides an OBD interface bus type detection method and apparatus. The method includes: determining a first bus feature of a connection cable associated with a selected pin in an on-board diagnostics OBD interface; matching the first bus feature with an OBD interface bus library and determining a bus type of the connection cable associated with the selected pin; determining, according to the bus type of the connection cable associated with the selected pin, a second bus feature of the connection cable associated with the selected pin; and sending the second bus feature to a vehicle diagnostic instrument, to enable the vehicle diagnostic instrument to perform communications protocol scanning on the selected pin in the OBD interface according to the second bus feature. According to the present invention, a communications protocol meeting the second bus feature may be directly used by the vehicle diagnostic instrument to perform diagnostic scanning on the selected pin, thereby reducing scanning interference for different bus types.
Methods and arrangements for message time series intrusion detection for in-vehicle network security
Logic may reduce the latency and increase the confidence in message time series (MTS) intrusion detection systems (IDSs). Logic may capture traffic on an in-vehicle network bus during a first traffic window. Logic may filter the traffic within the first traffic window to determine more than one observation window, wherein the more than observation window comprises at least a first observation window and a second observation window. Logic may evaluate the more than one observation window to determine a first output based on a first observation window and a second output based on a second observation window, the first and second outputs to indicate if an intrusion is detected. Logic may determine, based on a combination of the outputs, that the traffic during the first traffic window comprises an intrusion. Logic may output an indication of the intrusion.
Tractor-trailer communication system
A communication system, including: a trailer module disposed on a cargo trailer, the trailer module including a trailer identification number for the cargo trailer; a tractor module disposed on a cargo tractor, the tractor module to electrically couple to the trailer module; and a communications bus to couple the trailer module to the tractor module when the trailer is coupled to the tractor, wherein, when coupled to the tractor module, the trailer module communicates the trailer identification to the tractor module.

A transceiver for sending and receiving data from a controller area network (CAN) bus is disclosed. The transceiver includes a microcontroller port, a transmitter and a receiver, wherein the transceiver is configured to determine bit timings from a data frame received by the receiver. The transceiver is further configured to detect attempts to introduce a signal glitch in a predetermined portion of the data frame and upon detection of the signal glitch, the transceiver is configured to invalidate the data frame on a transmission line and/or disable the transmitter for a predetermined period.

The building can include a door having a lock that is configured to fasten the door to inhibit unauthorized entry into the building. Dynamic controller area network (CAN) messaging is provided. A central gateway of a vehicle includes a processor and a storage, connected to a plurality of vehicle buses, each of the vehicle buses connected to one or more electronic control units (ECUs), The central gateway receives a message from a client of the ECUs, the message requesting a dynamic CAN signal. The message is forwarded over the plurality of vehicle buses to a server of the ECUs. A response from the server is received to the central gateway, the response specifying availability of the dynamic CAN signal. The response is forwarded to the client.
SECURITY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING A VEHICLE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM
Security system for protecting a vehicle electronic system by selectively intervening in the communications path in order to prevent the arrival of malicious messages at ECUs, in particular at the safety critical ECUs. The security system includes a filter which prevents illegal messages sent by any system or device communicating over a vehicle communications bus from reaching their destination. The filter may, at its discretion according to preconfigured rules, send messages as is, block messages, change the content of the messages, request authentication or limit the rate such messages can be delivered, by buffering the messages and sending them only in preconfigured intervals.
