A protective shell for an athletic shoe and a system for coupling the protective shell to the shoe is disclosed herein. The protective shell includes a top toe area and a side toe area. The top toe area and side toe area are configured to fit over at least a portion of a top toe area and at least a portion of a side toe area of a shoe. At least one coupling feature on the side toe area is configured to facilitate coupling to the shoe or to a separate coupling device attached to the shoe.

Sports footwear comprising an upper having a toe portion and a sole fixed to said upper. The sports footwear also comprises a protection element mounted on the side surface of the toe portion. This protection element is fixed permanently to the side surface of the toe portion and is provided with an outer surface provided with first coupling means for coupling a covering component on the protection element. The first coupling means of the protection element define a seat suitable for housing a fastening element for fastening the covering element onto the protection element. The seat has a direction of insertion which is substantially parallel to the side surface of the toe portion of the footwear on which the protection element is mounted. A covering component suitable for use with footwear is also described.

Sports footwear comprising an upper having a toe portion and a sole fixed to said upper. The sports footwear also comprises a protection element mounted on the side surface of the toe portion. This protection element is fixed permanently to the side surface of the toe portion and is provided with an outer surface provided with first coupling means for coupling a covering component on the protection element. The first coupling means of the protection element define a seat suitable for housing a fastening element for fastening the covering element onto the protection element. The seat has a direction of insertion which is substantially parallel to the side surface of the toe portion of the footwear on which the protection element is mounted. A covering component suitable for use with footwear is also described.

Safety footwear adapted to provide protection to the instep region and/or metatarsals of a wearer is provided, including an internal metatarsal guard disposed in an interior of an upper, a first external metatarsal guard joined with the exterior of the upper, and optionally a second external metatarsal guard joined with the exterior of the upper, and overlapping the first external metatarsal guard. Upon flexing of the instep region during a gait cycle of a wearer, the second external metatarsal guard can ride along the first external metatarsal guard in a lobster tail articulation. The footwear and its components provide impact and crushing force resistance, yet the footwear is flexible enough to provide enhanced mobility to a wearer.

Safety footwear adapted to provide protection to the instep region and/or metatarsals of a wearer is provided, including an internal metatarsal guard disposed in an interior of an upper, a first external metatarsal guard joined with the exterior of the upper, and optionally a second external metatarsal guard joined with the exterior of the upper, and overlapping the first external metatarsal guard. The footwear and its components provide impact and crushing force resistance, yet the footwear is flexible enough to provide enhanced mobility to a wearer.

A shoe device includes two separate pieces, a first piece for the toe portion of the shoe and a second piece for the closure portion of the shoe. The underside of both pieces includes an adhesive allowing the first piece to be stuck to the toe portion of the shoe, and allowing the second piece to be stuck to overlie the closure portion on the shoe. Once the two pieces are put on the shoe using the adhesive on each piece, the two pieces are preferably further secured in place using multiple wraps of tape that wrap around each piece and around the sole of the shoe to assure that neither of the two pieces can dislodge during use of the shoe, such as during an athletic contest.

A shoe device includes two separate pieces, a first piece for the toe portion of the shoe and a second piece for the closure portion of the shoe. A post-surgical foot protector is designed to protect the exposed toes of a foot of a surgical patient in a cast. The post-surgical foot protector includes a hollow body designed to be placed around the foot of the patient, which hollow body includes an open end portion that is designed to be positioned about and in contact with a cast on the patient's foot. There is at least one ventilation opening the body to permit airflow in and out of the body. A securing structure is wrapped around the cast on the patient's foot and an outer edge or lip of the open end portion to removably attach the body to the cast.

A post-surgical foot protector is designed to protect the exposed toes of a foot of a surgical patient in a cast. The post-surgical foot protector includes a hollow body designed to be placed around the foot of the patient, which hollow body includes an open end portion that is designed to be positioned about and in contact with a cast on the patient's foot. There is at least one ventilation opening the body to permit airflow in and out of the body. A securing structure is wrapped around the cast on the patient's foot and an outer edge or lip of the open end portion to removably attach the body to the cast.
