A phone number switching method and an associated apparatus are provided, where the phone number switching method may be applied to a first electronic device. For example, the phone number switching method may include the steps of: determining whether a predetermined activity corresponding to both of the first electronic device and a second electronic device occurs, to generate a determination result; and according to the determination result, selectively sending a switching request from the first electronic device to a service provider, wherein a phone number is previously associated to a first subscriber identity module (SIM) within the first electronic device by the service provider, and the switching request asks for re-associating the phone number to a second SIM within the second electronic device.

Various embodiments provide for a way of routing messages using location routing numbers. More specifically, some embodiments can route calls on different legacy networks by using features of existing telecommunication policy and databases. For example, a location routing number can be registered in a number portability administration center database. The location routing number may be in a native number block of a facility carrier and a company registering the location routing number in the number portability administration center database may not be the facility carrier. The destination switch of the facility carrier can be programmed to accept traffic associated with the location routing number. As a result, components of the network can route the message for the company to a destination switch of the facility carrier.

An inter-network connection control device used in an interconnected network includes a connection request signal forward unit that receives, from a call control device in a specific communication network, a connection request signal addressed to another communication network; an address query unit that queries an address resolution device for an address corresponding to a destination telephone number included in the connection request signal received from the connection request signal forward unit, and that obtains the address from the address resolution device; and a forward instruction unit that instructs the call control device to forward the connection request signal to the address obtained by the address query unit.

A method for routing a call associated with a private dialing plan includes receiving a call directed to a destination endpoint associated with a private dialing plan (PDP), receiving an internal egress path identifier associated with the destination endpoint, and routing the call to an egress path identified by the egress path identifier. A system for routing a call including a destination number associated with a PDP including a routing engine operable to route the call to a PDP call resolution server, and a first switch operable to receive an egress path identifier and a PDP telephone number from the PDP call resolution server, the egress path identifier identifying an egress path for routing the call to a destination endpoint associated with the destination number, and the PDP telephone number identifying a selected PDP destination endpoint and a second switch operable to receive the call based on the egress path identifier and route the call to the selected PDP destination endpoint using the PDP telephone number.

A method, a device and a storage medium for processing a communication service in a circuit switch domain are provided. The method may include: judging, when a communication service being currently processed by a communication terminal is a voice call service or a short message service in a circuit switch domain, whether a switching condition for switching the communication service onto a real-time communication tool in a packet switch domain of the communication terminal is met; if it is met, switching the communication service onto the real-time communication tool in the packet switch domain of the communication terminal.

An IP telephony system obtains control over a group of telephone numbers that can be assigned to its customers' telephony devices under a contract with a first local exchange carrier that originally controlled the group of telephone numbers. The first local exchange carrier assigns one or more location routing numbers to the group of telephone numbers, and the one or more location routing numbers are for the exclusive use of the IP telephony system. The one or more location routing numbers are then recorded against the group of telephone numbers in a local number portability database. Other exchange carriers are then caused to route calls directed to the any telephony number associated with the one or more location routing numbers directly to the IP telephony system. As a result, a second local exchange carrier can terminate telephony communications directly to the IP telephony system, bypassing the first local exchange carrier.

Methods and systems for routing a call including a destination number associated with a PDP including a routing engine operable to route the call to a PDP call resolution server, and a first switch operable to receive an egress path identifier and a PDP telephone number from the PDP call resolution server, the egress path identifier identifying an egress path for routing the call to a destination endpoint associated with the destination number, and the PDP telephone number identifying a selected PDP destination endpoint and a second switch operable to receive the call based on the egress path identifier and route the call to the selected PDP destination endpoint using the PDP telephone number.

A determination is made whether to handle a request associated with a specific number range by a physical telephone number mapping service instance provisioned for handling the request for the specific number range or a virtual telephone number mapping service instance provisioned for handling the request for the specific number range. If it is determined that the request should be handled by the physical telephone number mapping service instance, forwarding of the request from the physical telephone number mapping service instance to the virtual telephone number mapping service instance is prevented. If it is determined that the request should be handled by the virtual telephone number mapping service instance, forwarding of the request from the virtual telephone number mapping service instance to the physical telephone number mapping service instance is prevented.
