The first cover moves between a second closed position where the first cover covers the reading portion in a first closed position and a second open position where the first cover opens the reading portion. The second cover moves between a third closed position where the second cover forms a second area of a conveyance path together with the first cover in the second closed position and a third open position where the second cover opens the second area. The holding mechanism prevents the first cover from moving from the second open position to the second closed position and holds the first cover in the second open position when the second cover is in the third open position and the first cover is in the second open position.

An image reading apparatus includes a support tray on which a sheet is supported, a feeding portion to feed the sheet supported on the support tray, a reading portion to read an image from the sheet fed by the feeding portion, and a discharging portion to discharge the sheet, from which the image has been read by the reading portion, in a sheet discharge direction. In addition, a stack tray on which the sheet discharged by the discharging portion is stacked is provided, and a swing member is supported swingably by the support tray and comes in contact with an upper surface of the sheet stacked on the stack tray. The stack tray includes a first rib extending in the sheet discharge direction and comes in contact with the swing member.

A reading apparatus includes a main body section in which a reading section for a document is provided and a cover section capable of opening and closing by turning with respect to the main body section, a first surface of the cover section forming an upper surface in a closed state and a second surface of the cover section forming a support surface that supports the document in an open state. The cover section includes an operation section, a turning shaft, and a lock section. A distance from the operation section to the lock section is longer than a distance from the turning shaft to the lock section in an intersecting direction.

An image recording apparatus includes a recording unit configured to record an image on a medium; a body apparatus configured to house the recording unit; a document reader disposed in an upper portion of the body apparatus and having a placement surface of a document placement table at which a document is placed; a document cover a state thereof is allowed to be switched between a closed state in which the document cover covers the placement surface from above and an open state in which the document cover is opened to expose a space above the placement surface; and a holding mechanism configured to hold the document cover in such a way that a spacing between the placement surface and the document cover in the open state is greater than or equal to 3 cm but smaller than or equal to 10 cm.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming part, a discharge tray, a reading part, a biasing support part, and a turning regulating part. The discharge tray is disposed above the image forming part. The reading part is turnably supported on an upper portion of the image forming part between a closed position and an opened position. The biasing support part biases the reading part from the closed position toward the opened position. The turning regulating part is engaged with the reading part disposed at the closed position and regulates a turning of the reading part, which is applied with a biasing force of the biasing support part, toward the opened position. When the medium is discharged from the image forming part to the discharge tray, the turning regulating part is disengaged with the reading part, and allows the turning of the reading part toward the opened position.

A document reading apparatus includes an image reading unit, a document conveyance unit, and a hinge mechanism. The document conveyance unit includes a first abutment portion and a second abutment portion. The document conveyance unit includes a first abutment portion and a second abutment portion. The hinge mechanism includes a first member, a first shaft, a second member, a second shaft, a third member, a third shaft, a fourth member, a first urging portion, a second urging portion. The fourth member has a first pair of side plates supported by the third shaft. The second spring is disposed outside the first pair of side plates in an axial direction of the third shaft.

An image reading apparatus includes a reading unit including a frame, a transparent glass plate, and an image sensor, and a conveyance unit including a plurality of conveyance rollers. The conveyance unit includes (i) a first abutment portion and (ii) a second abutment portion, and is configured such that the first abutment portion and the second abutment portion abut a first surface of the transparent glass plate in a state where the conveyance unit is closed. The frame includes a first support portion, a second support portion, a third support portion, and a fourth support portion.
