A document feeder includes a mode selector, at least two document sensors, and a feeding determiner. The mode selector receives selection of either a normal mode for feeding documents having the same size or a mixed loading mode for feeding documents having different sizes. The document sensors are arranged at an interval in a width direction of the documents, and detect the documents. The feeding determiner performs, based on results of the detection by the document sensors, a size determination to determine a size of a document being fed and a skew determination to determine whether or not the document being fed is skewed. The feeding determiner performs the skew determination when the normal mode has been selected and performs the size determination when the mixed loading mode has been selected.

First output material constitutes a first type of sheet having a predetermined pattern image, and the second output material constitutes a second type of sheet having the predetermined pattern image. The image reading device conveys the first and second output materials in succession from the stacking portion and reads a first image and a second image. A first parameter to cause image formation using the sheet of the first type is acquired based on the first image and a second parameter to cause image formation using the sheet of the second type is acquired based on the second image.
Placement detection system
A placement detection system includes: a placement table; an imaging device that images an object placed on the placement table to generate an input image; and a control device. The control device generates a first binarized image for the input image based on a first threshold value and determines whether the object is placed in a predetermined placement orientation. The control device changes a threshold value for a target pixel to a second threshold value higher than the first threshold value when the object is determined to be placed in the predetermined placement orientation, the target pixel being sandwiched between pixels having pixel levels lower than or equal to the first threshold value and has a higher pixel level than the first threshold value in a first region, generates a second binarized image for the target pixel based on the second threshold value, and detects a shape of the object.
