An image reading apparatus includes an image sensor to read a document, a sensor to detect whether the document is loaded on the image reading apparatus, and a processor to, when the sensor detects the document is loaded on the image reading apparatus, and before a scan instruction is input to the image reading apparatus, control the image sensor to execute a pre-scan job with respect to the loaded document using a default set value.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on each of media; a plurality of sheet feeding cassettes each configured to store the media; a media sensor which is provided on a conveyance path through which the media are fed from any of the plurality of sheet feeding cassettes to the image forming unit, and is configured to detect a type of the conveyed media; a memory configured to store, for each sheet feeding cassette, the type of media stored in each of the plurality of sheet feeding cassettes; and a controller configured to output, to a display, a selection screen for selecting a sheet feeding cassette in which media to be used in calibration of adjusting a density of the image to be formed by the image forming unit are stored.

When a reading target object that includes a light emitting region is set as a reading target, the light emitting region is detected by a reading mechanism of a reading unit. The reading unit is caused to read the detected light emitting region, and in the reading, a read operation by the reading unit is controlled based on change of an amount of light received from the light emitting region.

In an image reading apparatus, a processor receives an input instructing to control the scanner to read an original, and controls the scanner to generate image data by reading the original. The processor receives device identification information identifying an information processing apparatus from the information processing apparatus. The process executes a first process and a second process. The first process includes: transmitting to a push notification server via the communication interface the received device identification information and reading information, the reading information including at least one of information specifying the controlling the scanner is start and information specifying the controlling the scanner is complete; receiving request information from the information processing apparatus via the communication interface; and transmitting the generated image data to the information processing apparatus in response to receiving the request information.

The inclination correction circuit generates coordinate information based on inclination information, detects, from the coordinate information, a minimum sub-scanning coordinate in each of divided areas of the image data, generates first read addresses for reading the divided areas of the image data from the image memory based on the minimum sub-scanning coordinate, reads the divided areas of the image data from the image memory based on the first read addresses, writes the divided areas of the image data to an internal memory, generates second read addresses for reading the divided areas of the image data from the internal memory based on the coordinate information, and reads the divided areas of the image data from the internal memory based on the second read addresses.
