When the first conveying path (R1) is used, a first side is read and the document (D) is discharged with the first side facing downward. When the second conveying path (R2) is used, a second side is read and the document (D) is discharged with the second side facing downward. When the second conveying path (R2) is used, a warning message (MS1) is displayed.

A document determination system includes a server apparatus that stores document data, a second multi-function printer that generates an authentic printed product, which is an authentic printed product in which a document represented by document data stored in the server apparatus is printed and in which at least a portion of the document is printed in composite black that is black represented using ink of a plurality of colors, and a third multi-function printer that reads a printed surface of a reading target including the authentic printed product and a duplicate of the authentic printed product. The server apparatus determines, based on whether at least the portion of the document represented by read data generated through reading by the third multi-function printer is printed in composite black, whether the reading target read by the third multi-function printer is the authentic printed product.

An image output apparatus includes a controller that controls display of a first setting screen including setting items of a system to be used for a setting of operation of the image output apparatus and a second setting screen including setting items of a job to be used in a setting of operation in job execution, and an image outputter that outputs an image by executing a job based on the setting of the operation in the job execution. The controller disables a selection of the setting items of the job that uses a specific function on the second setting screen when use of the specific function is prohibited on the first setting screen.

An image processing apparatus according to an embodiment includes: a detector which detects an occurrence of an event; a display which displays notification information regarding the occurred event; and a controller which restricts operation authority over the notification information displayed on the display to a specific user when the notification information corresponds to a notification for the specific user, and makes the operation authority over the notification information di splayed on the display unrestricted when the notification information does not correspond to a notification for the specific user.

Setting conditions related to reading of an image of a document are registered in association with a user according to input by a user. When a user is identified, the priority order is determined so that a setting condition corresponding to the identified user is prioritized over a setting condition not corresponding to the user among the registered setting conditions, and the setting condition information indicating the setting conditions in the determined priority is displayed. The image is read under the setting condition based on the setting condition information selected according to the input by the user of the setting condition information indicating the displayed setting conditions.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: acquire a read image and item information, the read image being an image obtained by reading a paper medium including plural documents, the item information being information of plural items specified by a user from among plural items contained in the documents; extract plural character strings from the read image, each character string being associated with the corresponding one of the items included in the item information; in response to extracting the character strings associated with the item information from the read image, set a split position, the split position being a position at which to split out a portion of the read image as a set of documents, the portion being a portion of the read image from a page where the extracting has begun to a page containing the last extracted character string; and output the read image split in accordance with the split position.

An image forming apparatus includes a connection portion to which a first optional device and a second optional device are selectively detachably connectable, and a determination portion configured to determine whether to prohibit an operation of the image forming apparatus. A plurality of first optional devices are stacked and connectable to the image forming apparatus. The second optional device is installed on a floor and is connectable to the first optional device. A reading unit is configured to capture an image of a shadow generated at a leading end of a document, and a control unit is configured to estimate a thickness of the document based on a pixel value of the shadow. A multifeeding error is displayed on a display unit when it is determined as thin paper in a thick paper determination. The control unit turns multifeeding detection to OFF and stands by until a feeding is completed, and upon completion, returns the multifeeding detection to ON.

An image reading apparatus includes: a scanner unit that scans a document including a plurality of pages and reads an image of each of the pages; an image processing unit that determines characteristics of each page of the read images and performs image processing in accordance with the characteristics; a display device that previews the processed image of each page; an operation detection device that accepts a setting of an extraction condition related to the characteristics; and a controller that extracts, based on the set extraction condition, and previews a read image of a page having determination accuracy pertaining to the characteristics below a predetermined standard among the images processed for each page.
