A scan task system includes a plurality of imaging devices, including MFDs, dedicated scanners, or mobile phones with scanning or camera functions. The system notifies a user or a number of users when a particular document needs to be scanned and transmitted to a specific destination. A scan task is sent to available imaging devices, and will appear when the user logs in at any imaging device on the network. When a user executes the scan task at any one of the imaging devices, the scan task is removed from all devices. The scan task can be pre-programmed to appropriately file or send a scanned document when the scan is executed.

A drive transmission device includes a chassis fixed to an apparatus main body and a driving roller that is driven by a driving source. A belt member transmits rotational force of the driving roller. A method for printing documents includes detecting a trigger event when a portable memory device is communicatively connected to a print device. The print device is in communication with a data store that contains print history identifying one or more files printed using one or more print devices. The method includes receiving an instruction to print a document file stored on the portable memory device, identifying a property associated with the document file, and comparing the property associated with the document file to the print history to determine if a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file. If a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file, before printing the document causing a user interface to output a prompt that the document file has previously been printed, otherwise causing the print device to print the document.

A facsimile apparatus includes a facsimile control unit, a subbox generating unit, and a facsimile managing unit. The subbox generating unit is configured to (a) extract receiver information or sender information from the facsimile image data, (b) determine a company name, one or plural belonging group names and a name of a receiver or a sender that are continuously included in the receiver information or the sender information, and (c) hierarchically generate subboxes on the basis of the determined company name, the determined one or plural belonging group names and the determined name. The facsimile managing unit is configured to store the facsimile image data into a subbox of which a name is the same as the determined name in a lowest layer among the subboxes hierarchically generated.

A control method for an image forming apparatus configured to perform transmission of information includes performing retransmission of the information a predetermined number of times in a case where the transmission of the information fails, wherein an entry about the retransmission of the information is added to a notification table managed by the image forming apparatus, clearing the entry from the notification table, in a case where the retransmission of the information is completed the predetermined number of times or a case where the image forming apparatus receives a response to the retransmission of the information, and clearing the entry from the notification table in a case where user information necessary for the retransmission of the information is changed.

Individual setting values are previously associated with an image forming apparatus to be removed and information regarding the association is stored on a medium. When the medium is connected to the image forming apparatus to be removed and an automatic installation program is executed, the association is removed. Subsequently, when the medium is connected to an image forming apparatus to be installed and the automatic installation program is executed, individual setting values that are not associated with an image forming apparatus to be removed are identified and imported.
