Color Correction in Printing Systems

A method is described in which a first color is detected at a user-selected arbitrary position of a first print; a second color is detected at a user-selected arbitrary position of a second print printed by a printer; a color difference between the first color and the second color is determined; and settings of the printer are changed to reduce the color difference in further prints printed by the printer.

The disclosure extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for producing an image in light deficient environments with luminance and chrominance emitted from a controlled light source.

Systems and methods for calibrating display systems

A method of calibrating a display system, the method comprising: displaying a test pattern including a plurality of blobs; detecting one or more base blobs in the displayed test pattern; identifying, based on the detected base blobs, patches of the test pattern, wherein each patch comprises one of the base blobs and a subset of additional blobs detected in the displayed test pattern; determining a patch location for at least one patch within the test pattern based on the subset of the additional blobs in the patch to determine a blob location for at least one detected blob; determining a calibration parameter for the display system based on the blob location and a detected attribute of the at least one detected blob; and calibrating the projector using the calibration parameter.

Display Management for High Dynamic Range Video

A display management processor receives an input image with enhanced dynamic range to be displayed on a target display which has a different dynamic range than a reference display. The input image is first transformed into a perceptually-quantized (PQ) color space, preferably the IPT-PQ color space. A color volume mapping function, which includes an adaptive tone-mapping function and an adaptive gamut mapping function, generates a mapped image. A detail-preservation step is applied to the intensity component of the mapped image to generate a final mapped image with a filtered tone-mapped intensity image. The final mapped image is then translated back to the display's preferred color space. Examples of the adaptive tone mapping and gamut mapping functions are provided.

AGENT CALIBRATION

Agent calibration can, in an example implementation, include generating a calibration based on a quantity of energy absorbed by a build material treated with different quantities of an agent and converting a portion of a three-dimensional object model to a quantity of agent based on the calibration.

PRINTING DEVICE SUPPLY COMPONENT

In some examples, a supply component for a printing device includes a memory device comprising a plurality of corrective data to produce a corresponding plurality of color tables each customized for a respective media type of a plurality of media types, wherein a respective corrective data of the plurality of corrective data corresponds to nodes of a reference color table for the printing device that is able to accept the plurality of media types for printing. The respective corrective data includes a plurality of residual values to transform the nodes of the reference color table to a customized color table for use with a selected media type of the plurality of media types.

IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS

The character edge area determining unit (21) determines a character edge area in input image data.

The output image processing unit (12) performs an image process for a target pixel in the determined character edge area in order to adjust a toner consumption amount in accordance with the number of continuous edge pixels (i.e. continuous pixels that belong to the character edge area) included in a reference window of which a center is set on the target pixel and an average value of pixel values of the continuous edge pixels.

Image capture method and systems to preserve apparent contrast of an image

Methods and systems are described for processing an image captured with an image sensor, such as a camera. In one embodiment, an estimated ambient light level of the captured image is determined and used to compute an optical-optical transfer function (OOTF) that is used to correct the image to preserve an apparent contrast of the image under the estimated ambient light level in a viewing environment. The estimated ambient light level is determined by scaling pixel values from the image sensor using a function that includes exposure parameters and a camera specific parameter derived from a camera calibration.

COLOR TABLE COMPRESSION

In some examples, a print cartridge includes a memory device comprising quantized coefficients derived from a lossy compression, at a selected step size, of a difference color table including a plurality of difference nodes in which each difference node represents a difference value that is a difference of a value of a node of a color table and a value of a corresponding node of a reference table, the quantized coefficients useable to produce a reconstructed difference color table including a first set of difference nodes each representing a difference value that is within an error threshold at the selected step size, and a second set of difference nodes each representing a difference value that is outside an error threshold at the selected step size. The memory device further comprises corrective information to correct the second set of difference nodes of the reconstructed difference color table.
