A multimedia keepsake is created containing multimedia content created by a customer and stored online as content information. After the customer selects the type of keepsake, the content information is converted to keepsake information having a format appropriate for storage in the selected type of keepsake. The keepsake information is stored online so as to be accessible via an access code, and it is downloaded to a vendor providing the access code.

A system and method for frame accurate editing of high resolution live video streams is disclosed. A method includes providing a low resolution video stream displayed in a first viewing portion of an edit user interface, wherein the low resolution video stream corresponds to a high resolution video stream of the live video content, receiving, via the viewing portion of the user interface, user input identifying a first start point and a first end point within the low resolution video stream, and transmitting the first start point and the first end point to a server to obtain a respective intermediate video segment of an intermediate resolution video stream corresponding to the high resolution video stream. The method further includes presenting the respective intermediate video segment in a second viewing portion of the edit user interface, the second viewing portion comprising a frame identifying section to identify frames corresponding to the first start point and the first end point, receiving user input identifying a second start point and a second end point from within the intermediate resolution video stream, and transmitting the second start point and the second end point to the server to obtain a respective high resolution video segment from the high resolution video stream for presentation to the user.

A system and method of operating a content distribution system includes generating a first request for first content by a first user device. Based on the first request for the first content, the first content is pre-positioned by communicating the first content to a downstream storage device closer to a second user device without communicating the first content to the first user device using the downstream storage device; and storing the first content in the downstream storage device as pre-positioned content. The method further includes communicating the first content to the second user device from the downstream storage device.

A system and method providing a video content acquisition system adapted to determine content acquisition delays as a function of the source of the content. In particular, the system and method minimize delays experienced by users requesting video content via a client device. This is accomplished by tailoring the acquisition delay time associated with a particular request for content based upon the source of the signal from which the requested content is to be obtained (broadcast, satellite, cable, internet, etc.), as well as the type of signal requested and/or rate at which the source signal provides content (symbols/sec, bits/second, etc.). This minimizes the amount of time a user may mistakenly perceive a client device to be unresponsive or incapable of providing the requested video content.

A data storage device and method for application-defined data retrieval in surveillance systems are provided. In one embodiment, a data storage device is provided comprising a memory and a controller. The controller is configured to store, in the memory, a stream that combines data from a plurality of receivers; receive a request from a host for data generated by a selected receiver; extract, from the stored stream, the data generated by the selected receiver; and send the extracted data to the host. A communication apparatus for transmitting a virtual viewpoint video receives an acquisition request for a virtual viewpoint video, acquires viewpoint position information indicating a viewpoint position for the virtual viewpoint video from an apparatus that made the acquisition request, and transmits a virtual viewpoint video segment corresponding to the viewpoint position information to the apparatus that made the acquisition request. The virtual viewpoint video is video data in a format in which a video from any viewpoint position in a three-dimensional space can be rendered, and the virtual viewpoint video segment is generated by encoding the virtual viewpoint video as a two-dimensional video based on the viewpoint position information.
