CROWDSOURCED PLAYBACK CONTROL OF MEDIA CONTENT
Example embodiments provide systems and methods for crowdsourced skipping of media content portions. In an example method, a plurality of content tags are received from a plurality of media content devices over a communication network. Each of the plurality of content tags may designate a location within a media content item. The content tags are processed to generate aggregated content tags for the media content item. The aggregated content tags may designate one or more portions of the media content item for modified playback. The aggregated content tags for the media content item are transmitted over the communication network to a first media content device separate from the plurality of media content devices.

System and method for creating responsive display content
A media communication system and computer-implemented method for transmitting responsive display auxiliary content to an end-user communication device to be rendered on a display device. The communication system is arranged to analyze media content constituents, including image content; create a throne portion based on the image content; create a headline, including headline rendering instructions, based on the image content; create a background, including background rendering instructions, based on the image content; create image rendering instructions based on the headline and background; and generate responsive display auxiliary content, including the headline rendering instructions, background rendering instructions and image rendering instructions. The system can include a transmitter arranged to send the responsive display auxiliary content to an end-user communication device, which can be arranged to render the responsive display auxiliary content on a display device with the headline rendered vertically on the throne portion and partially outside a viewport of a responsive display auxiliary container and the image content stacked atop of and offset with respect to the background.
Systems and methods for enabling a user to start a scheduled program over by retrieving the same program from a non-linear source
Systems and methods are provided herein for receiving a request from a user to access a video that is scheduled for transmission, simultaneously to a plurality of users, beginning from a scheduled start time. The request is received after the scheduled start time the transmission is performed by a linear service to which the user subscribes. In response to receiving the request, the systems and methods may generate for display the video to the user, and may receive, during display of the video, a command from the user to start playback of the video over from the beginning. In response to receiving the command, the systems and methods may identify a non-linear service to which the user subscribes that offers a non-linear copy of the video, and may play back the non-linear copy of the video from the beginning.

System and method for synchronized playing of media items on a plurality of remote devices
Generally, a method and system for synchronized playing of a streamed media item on multiple remote devices are provided. The system may comprise a source device arranged to play and stream a media item and arranged to select at least one target device with which to share the media item thereof. The system may comprise a synchronization server in communication with the source device and with the at least one target device. The synchronization server may be arranged to: (i) determine a source average latency for the source device and a target average latency for each of the at least one target device; and (ii) determine, for each of the at least one target device, based on the source average latency and the respective target device's target average latency, a global time offset usable to synchronize playing of the media item thereof up to a predetermined accuracy.

Media-object binding for predicting performance in a media
A system and method for media-object binding and predicting performance in a media is provided. One or more sets of object data may be associated with the media. One or more media-object bindings between the one or more sets of object data and the media may be formed and stored in one or more databases. The one or more sets of object data may include data about an object displayed during at least the portion of the media. One or more object-object associations between the one or more sets of object data and other stored object data may be formed and stored the one or more databases. The one or more object-object associations may form one or more object aggregations. A determination may for made regarding if any of the one or more object aggregations meet or pass a threshold.
RECEIVING DEVICE, RECEIVING METHOD, TRANSMITTING DEVICE, AND TRANSMITTING METHOD
A receiving device, a receiving method, a transmitting device, and a transmitting method. The receiving device acquires a digital broadcast signal that includes audio-video (AV) content and location information, the location information indicating a source from which application control information for controlling an operation of an application executed in conjunction with a progressing timing of the AV content is obtainable, acquires the application control information from the source indicated by the location information, the application control information including an application ID and a uniform resource locator (URL), obtains, from the URL included in the acquired application control information, control information during a polling period that is defined in accordance with an attribute specified in the acquired application control information, and controls the operation of the application based on the acquired application control information and the obtained control information.
