Intelligent assignment and data management of stored media content
A remote storage digital video recorder (RSDVR) retains multiple copies of media programs so long as the copies are expected to be useful to at least one user. Rather than assigning copies to specific users at the time the program is recorded, copies can be assigned as the users request access to the particular media programs. Copies of unassigned programs can be deleted according to a schedule to reduce disk storage and processing demands on the system. A pool of program copies that are not initially assigned to particular users can be maintained until the user makes a specific request to view the program. This “late assignment” of program copies can substantially reduce the amount of data stored by the RSDVR system without substantially impacting the viewer experience.

REAL-TIME SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SILENT PARTY HOSTING AND STREAMING
The system and techniques disclose as a software platform, including computer software applications (apps) and a backend system that can be used to provide hosting and streaming of a silent party. The system allows a host to set up a silent party, specifically selecting the music that is played during the silent party and designating virtual “rooms” where different genres of music can be played simultaneously. Further, the system streams real-time content, including music, for the silent party simultaneously to different silent party attendees at various remote locations. The silent party attendees access the real-time stream, using their respective computer devices and headphones, so that the music can still be enjoyed “silently”. Accordingly, the system allows for a unique and exciting “virtual” silent party experience that can be enjoyed by users anywhere in real-time, as if they were all physically together in the same room of a conventional silent party.
Content display system, content display method, and recording medium with content displaying program recorded thereon
A content display system includes a first acquisition processor that acquires first content registered on a management terminal; a first display processor that causes the display device to display the first content acquired by the first acquisition processor; a second acquisition processor that acquires second content based on an operation on a portable terminal by a user when the first content is displayed on the display device; and a second display processor that causes the display device to display the second content acquired by the second acquisition processor.
LOCALIZED CLOUD SERVICES FOR PRIVACY-ISOLATED CLIENTS
Various arrangements of a local cloud system for providing television services are presented. A facility cloud host system may have a content service provider interface that is used to receive live television channel streams from a television content service provider. The local cloud system may have a transcoder that transcodes the live television channels into a format to be transmitted locally to client devices. The local cloud system may provide access to recorded content from a remote master cloud host.
VIDEO PLAYBACK SYSTEM BASED ON APPROVAL OF PLAYBACK APPROVER
Provided is a video playback system based on approval of a playback approver. A decryption key that can decrypt an encrypted and stored recorded video is generated only when video playback is approved by a playback approver using an appointed playback approval method and transmitted to the video recording device so that it is possible to prevent leakage of the recorded video with sensitive personal information.
VIDEO PLAYBACK DEVICE, AND VIDEO PLAYBACK METHOD
Provided is a video playback device 2 including: a scene selection unit 211 for a user to select a certain scene contained in video data 322; a scene selection accepting unit 212 for accepting selections of divided files to be downloaded from a server 3, in accordance with inputs by the scene selection unit 211; a download instruction unit 213 for giving instructions to download the divided files that have been accepted by the scene selection accepting unit 212 and are to be downloaded; a playback video generation unit 214 for generating playback video data 222 as part of the video data 322, from the divided files downloaded based on the instructions of the download instruction unit 213; and
a video playback device storage unit 22 for storing the playback video data 222 that are playable on a display unit 25.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MINIMIZING NUMBER OF COPIES OF CONTENT ITEMS STORED AT SERVER
Systems and methods are described for receiving a first request, associated with a first user profile, to record a content item, and storing, at a server and based on the first request, a first copy of the content item, accessible via the first user profile. A second request to record the content item may be received, associated with a second user profile, and content consumption history associated with the second user profile may be identified. Based on such content consumption history, a determination may be made to refrain from storing a second copy of the content item based on the second request. In response to receiving a request, associated with the second user profile, to access the content item, the content item may be played at a device associated with the second user profile based on the stored first copy of the content item.
