Targeted television advertising based on profiles linked to multiple online devices
11082753 · 2021-08-03 · ·

A profile provider: (i) associates a primary online device (OD1) with a set-top box (STB); (ii) a location of OD1 at some point in time is estimated to be “near” the STB, thereby establishing a STB proxy location; (iii) one or more secondary online devices (OD2s) are observed to be located “near” the STB proxy location and are associated with the STB; and (iv) a television advertisement is selected to be directed to the STB, which selection is based at least in part on profile information linked to one of the associated OD2s. The method can be particularly advantageous in situations wherein: the STB is not connected to any computer network; the STB is not ever connected to the same local area network as OD1 or OD2; or television service (used by the STB) and online access (used by OD1 and OD2s) are provided by different service providers.

Real-time wireless video delivery system using a multi-channel communications link

A system described herein provides real-time wireless video delivery using a multi-channel communications link. A method of employing elements of the system includes generating a first set of video data and generating a second set of video data. Further, encoding the first set of video data such that the second set of video data is a higher resolution version of the first set of video data and the encoded first set of video data is to supplement the second set of video data in response to a data drop.

DECODER EQUIPMENT WITH TWO AUDIO LINKS
20210195256 · 2021-06-24 ·

Decoder equipment includes a first output suitable for connecting to audio playback equipment, a second output suitable for connecting to video playback equipment, processor means configured to use a first audio link of the first output to deliver a first audio signal coming from an incoming audio/video stream received by the decoder equipment, and to use a second audio link to deliver a second audio signal associated with at least one sound generated by the decoder equipment. The first link presents first characteristics imparting a first latency to the first audio signal and the second link presents second characteristics imparting a second latency, lower than the first latency, to the second audio signal.

AUTOMATIC AUDIO SOURCE SELECTION SYSTEM
20210152890 · 2021-05-20 ·

System, method, and various embodiments for providing an automatic audio source selection system are described herein. An embodiment operates by determining a state of a first device configured to output first video to a screen and first audio to one or more speakers. A priority of the first device is determined relative to one or more other devices configured to output second video to the screen and second audio to the one or more speakers. An audio source for the one or more speakers is selected based on both the state of the first device and the priority of the first device. Based on the selected audio source, audio is provided to the one or more speakers for output, wherein the output audio corresponds to video output to the screen from the selected audio source.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROVIDING AUDIO/VIDEO CONTENT TO A RENDERING DEVICE

The present document describes a method (500) for providing combined audio and video content from a source device (210) to an audio sink device (230) and to a video sink device (220). The method (500) comprises determining (501) latency information regarding the video latency for processing the video content and the audio latency for processing the audio content of the combined audio and video content along the device chain (100) between the source device (210) and the audio and video sink devices (220, 230). Furthermore, the method (5009 comprises delaying (502) the audio content or the video content in dependence of the latency information, and providing (503) the combined audio and video content with the delayed audio content or the delayed video content.

METHOD TO ACOUSTICALLY DETECT A STATE OF AN EXTERNAL MEDIA DEVICE USING AN IDENTIFICATION SIGNAL
20210112298 · 2021-04-15 ·

A communication system detects a state of a connected television. The communication system receives a request to establish a communication session with a local communication device via a network. The communication system outputs a reference audio signal to a locally connected audio output device. The communication system captures an ambient audio signal from a local microphone and compares the reference audio signal and the ambient audio signal to determine if the reference audio signal and the ambient audio signal match by meeting a similarity threshold. initiates an action with respect to the communication session based on the comparison.
