Systems, devices, and methods for streaming media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of streaming media content over a network involves transmitting one or more portions of the media content to a client device via a delivery route between a content delivery source and the network, determining a performance metric associated with the transmitting of the one or more portions via the delivery route, and dynamically adjusting the delivery route between the content delivery source and the network based at least in part on the performance metric.

Delivery and monitoring of Emergency Alert System (EAS) media files via router computing devices using redirection responses is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a router computing device receives an EAS notification from a server computing device. The EAS notification received by the router computing device includes an EAS media file manifest Universal Resource Locator (URL) of an EAS media file to be pushed to subscribers. Upon receiving the EAS notification, the router computing device intercepts an Internet Protocol (IP) streaming content request from a client computing device that is communicatively coupled to the router computing device, and transmits a redirection response message that includes the EAS media file manifest URL to the client computing device. Upon receiving the redirection response message from the router computing device, the client computing device is redirected from any currently streaming media to the EAS media file manifest URL.
Remote storage digital video recorder streaming and related methods
Systems, devices, and methods for streaming or otherwise delivering media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of streaming media content over a network using a RS-DVR system involves receiving, at the RS-DVR system, a request for a portion of the media content from a media player on a client device via the network, receiving, at the RS-DVR system, the portion of the media content from an origin server on the network, buffering the portion of the media content at the RS-DVR system, and transmitting the portion of the media content to the media player on the client device. The portion of media content may be transmitted using a modified transport layer protocol, and in some embodiments, marked as non-cacheable.

Systems, devices, and methods for streaming media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of assisted streaming of media content over a network involves detecting, by a media player at a client device coupled to the network, a first condition with respect to streaming the media content, and in response to the first condition, requesting, by the media player, a first portion of the media content from a first content delivery source on the network. After requesting the first portion of the media content, the method further comprises detecting, by the media player, a second condition with respect to streaming the media content, and in response to detecting the second condition, requesting, by the media player, a subsequent portion of the media content from a second content delivery source on the network. The first content delivery source transmits the media content using a modified transport layer protocol.

The method implements the following acts: obtaining at least one transport stream comprising at least one transport packet; obtaining, from at least one modulation parameter for the broadcasting site, at least one starting instant of a modulation frame intended for being sent by the broadcasting site; inserting at least one modulation information packet in the at least one transport stream, at a position determined from the at least one starting instant; and generating the original total stream, including at least one physical layer pipe encapsulating the at least one transport stream carrying the at least one modulation information packet.

Directional wireless drop systems are provided. These systems include a tap unit that is connected to a communications line of the broadband network; a cable modem unit connected to the tap unit; a plurality of wireless routers connected to the cable modem unit; and a directional antenna unit that is connected to at least a first of the wireless routers. A method and a system are described for delivering multimedia content in a downstream network. The method includes monitoring a real-time quality of service associated with a bit rate traffic from a plurality of client devices and network topographies. The method includes creating a plurality of channels, to be multi-casted by a plurality of slave servers associated with a plurality of adaptive bit rates associated with the multimedia content based on the monitoring. The method includes publishing a master manifest comprising multicast information associated with each of the plurality of channels. The method includes notifying, the plurality of slave servers to subscribe to the created plurality of channels. The method includes receiving a subscription request for the plurality of channels from the plurality of slave servers in response to the notification. The multimedia content is multi-casted to the plurality of client devices based on subscription request.
