Methods and systems for assisted content delivery
10687099 · 2020-06-16 · ·

Systems, devices, and methods for streaming media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of assisted streaming of media content over a network involves detecting, by a media player at a client device coupled to the network, a first condition with respect to streaming the media content, and in response to the first condition, requesting, by the media player, a first portion of the media content from a first content delivery source on the network. After requesting the first portion of the media content, the method further comprises detecting, by the media player, a second condition with respect to streaming the media content, and in response to detecting the second condition, requesting, by the media player, a subsequent portion of the media content from a second content delivery source on the network. The first content delivery source transmits the media content using a modified transport layer protocol.

Method and system for reproducing contents, and computer-readable recording medium thereof

A content reproducing method and system for performing seamless playback of contents between devices is provided. The contents reproducing system includes a portable device which, when a short distance communication with a remote control which is configured to control an electronic device occurs during reproducing of contents, generates data required by the electronic device for reproducing the contents that are being reproduced, and which transmits the generated data to the remote control; the remote control which receives the data from the portable device and which transmits the received data to the electronic device, in conjunction with the occurrence of the short distance communication with the portable device; and the electronic device for receiving the contents from a contents provider and reproducing the contents.

Method and system for porting gateway functionality associated with a user from a first gateway to one or more other gateways

A broadband gateway, which enables communication with a plurality of devices, handles at least one physical layer connection to at least one corresponding network access service provider. The broadband gateway may operate as a home gateway to negotiate with one or more visited gateways, a common authorized service area or domain (ASD) for providing services to the visited gateways. The home gateway may establish one or more corresponding communication links with the visited gateways based on the negotiated common ASD. The home gateway communicates corresponding content for the services to the visited gateways via the established corresponding communication links. The home gateway communicates information about gateway functionalities required for the services to the visited gateways. The visited gateways may port gateway functionalities forwarded by the home gateway, or may perform gateway functionality conversion to support the services, which may be acquired via the home gateway and/or the visited gateways from networks.

METHOD OF QUIC COMMUNICATION VIA MULTIPLE PATHS
20200120015 · 2020-04-16 ·

A method of communication, in which a communicating device is situated behind a residential gateway able to implement the QUIC (Quick UDP Internet Connection) protocol and connected to a plurality of paths Pi, where i=1, . . . , N, on which the gateway can dispatch data packets received from the communicating device, and receive packets of data intended for the communicating device. The method includes: the gateway associating a respective connection identifier C_ID # i with each of the paths Pi; and, when the gateway receives a data packet from the communicating device, the gateway transmits this data packet on one of the paths Pi while taking into account the connection identifier C_ID # i corresponding to this path Pi.

Use Of Wait Period To Obtain On-Demand System Information For Wireless Networks

10595095 · 2020-03-17 · ·

The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for transceiving a broadcast signal for viewing environment adjustment. A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: encoding video data and signaling information including metadata regarding the production environment of the video data; generating a broadcast signal comprising the encoded video data and signaling information; and transmitting the generated broadcast signal.

METHOD OF TRANSPORTING DIGITAL DATA OVER COAXIAL CABLE

A method of transporting digital data over coaxial cable comprising converting digital signals associated with data into data electrical signals having a frequency extending up to at least 2 GHz and transmitting the electrical signals over coaxial cable. The data electrical signals can comprise upstream and downstream signals arranged in separate non-overlapping frequency bands, with the upstream band having a lower frequency than the downstream band.

Directional wireless drop systems for broadband networks and related methods

Directional wireless drop systems are provided. These systems include a tap unit that is connected to a communications line of the broadband network; a cable modem unit connected to the tap unit; a plurality of wireless routers connected to the cable modem unit; and a directional antenna unit that is connected to at least a first of the wireless routers. Each wireless router is associated with a respective one of a plurality of subscriber premises that are served by the directional wireless drop system and is configured to communicate with at least one device that is located at the respective one of plurality of subscriber premises.

System and method for transmission of data from a wireless mobile device over a multipath wireless router

There is disclosed a system and method for transmission of multiple data streams from a mobile device to a network. In an embodiment, the system includes a multipath wireless router configured to provide a plurality of network connections including cellular, satellite, or wired Ethernet. An encoding module provided on the mobile device is configured to encode high volume data (e.g. high definition video) recorded by the mobile device into multiple data streams in dependence on the number of network connections available for transmission via the multipath wireless router. The encoding module provided on the mobile device transmits the multiple data streams to the wireless router using Wi-Fi to provide a local, short-hop, high capacity network connection. The plurality of network connections available via the multipath wireless router provides the necessary capacity and reliability to transmit a high volume of data, such as high definition video, virtually live.
