WATERMARK-BASED METADATA ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING
The disclosed embodiments relate to media devices implementing new television standards, such as ATSC 3.0, which includes audio/video essence and metadata/signaling. The disclosed embodiments include techniques for confirming an association between two media devices by augmenting media content with a watermark using an upstream device, wherein the watermark conveys an identifier. The media content is sent from the upstream device to a downstream device and the watermark is detected using the downstream device. The identifier is transmitted to a server upon the detection of the watermark using the downstream device. The server identifies an association between the upstream and downstream devices upon receipt of the identifier from the downstream device.

Systems and methods for quick start-up of playback
Systems and methods for quick start-up of playback in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. Media content may be encoded in a plurality of alternative streams and a quick start-up stream. The quick start-up stream may include media content that is encoded at a lower quality that the alternative streams and may be encrypted with a different, less secure encryption process than that of the alternative streams. During a start-up of playback, the playback device streams the media content from a quick start-up stream until a metric, such as a decryption key for the alternative streams is met. The device then streams the media content from the alternative streams in response to the metric being met.
Auxiliary manifest file to provide timed metadata
A client electronic device to provide custom functionality for video content playback. The client electronic device includes one or more processors and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored therein instructions, which when executed by the one or more processors, causes the client electronic device to receive a streaming manifest file and a first auxiliary manifest file, where the streaming manifest file includes references to video segments of a video content, where the first auxiliary manifest file includes timed metadata associated with the video content, where the streaming manifest file and the first auxiliary manifest file refer to a same timeline, provide the streaming manifest file to a core playback module to play the video content according to the streaming manifest file, and provide custom functionality using the timed metadata included in the first auxiliary manifest file that replaces or augments functionality provided by the core playback module.
Systems and methods for audio adaptation of content items to endpoint media devices
Methods, systems, and non-transitory, machine-readable media are disclosed for audio adaption of content items to device operations of an endpoint media device. First observation data corresponding to media device operations associated with a first media device and mapped to first content items may be processed. A first content composite including an adaptable content item may be received. The first content composite may be adapted with a first audio segment. Based on the first observation data, the first audio segment may be selected. The first content composite may be configured with the first audio segment so that the adapted first content composite plays the first audio segment when the adapted first content composite is presented. The adapted first content composite may be output for presentation, where the first endpoint media device or the second endpoint media device performs at least one operation relating to the adapted first content composite.
Systems and methods for smart content streaming
Systems and methods for providing an authenticated groupcast stream of content to destination receivers are disclosed. A method may include receiving information indicating that a media capturing source(s) located at a premises and destination receivers are included in a group. Content captured from a media capturing source(s) may be received. The content may include an image(s)/video(s) and a destination network address associated with the destination receivers. The content may be copied. The number of copies of content may correspond to a number of the destination receivers. A respective copy of the content may be sent to the destination receivers.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING INFORMATION RELATED TO MULTIMEDIA DATA IN A HYBRID NETWORK AND STRUCTURE THEREOF
An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving information related to multimedia data in a hybrid network and a structure thereof are provided. The transmission method includes generating transmission characteristic information about the media data, and transmitting the transmission characteristic information. The transmission characteristic information includes valid range information about the transmission characteristic information.
Remotely accessed virtual recording room
An audio/video stream recording, storage, and delivery system 10 utilizes an Internet-based browser connection. The system 10 includes recording software 20, storage memory 30, a code generator 40, and a user interface 50. Preferably, the recording software 20 is located on the host back end 60 where it processes and records audio and video material that originates from the user front end 70 and is streamed to the host back end. The storage memory 30, which is also located on the host back end 60, stores the recorded audio and video material. The user interface 50 to the system provides a user located at the user front end 70 with remote access to a virtual recording room. The user interface 50 further enables the user to record audio and video material streamed from the user front end 70 by activating the recording software 20 located on the host back end 60. This is accomplished without requiring recording functionality on the user front end 70. The code generator 30 produces code associated with the recorded audio and video material. This code can be easily copied and pasted to an additional location 80, such as an auction website. Activating the code pasted at the additional location 80 provides access to the recorded audio and video material from the additional location while allowing the recorded audio and video material to remain stored at the host back end 60.
