An operation apparatus includes a communication section to communicate with an electronic apparatus capable of communicating, through a first transmission medium, with an accumulation apparatus capable of accumulating contents, the communication section communicating with the electronic apparatus through a second transmission medium, a content selection section to select a content to which a parental lock is to be set from among the contents accumulated in the accumulation apparatus, a release key setting section to set a key for releasing the parental lock for the content selected, a storage section to associate identification information of the content selected with the key set by the release key setting section and stores the identification information and the key associated with each other, and a parental lock notification section to notify the accumulation apparatus in which the content is accumulated of the identification information of the content to which the parental lock is set.

Systems and methods are described for the authentication of video. One or more witness devices may provide data that may be used to authenticate a video or a picture generated by a camera. A computing device comprising the camera or a separate camera device may be recording video or taking pictures and may discover one or more witness devices located nearby and held by users shown in the video or pictures. The one or more witness devices may provide authentication data to the computing device or the camera device. The computing device or camera device may encode the authentication data with the picture or video content. An authentication device may decode the authentication data to determine whether the video or picture is authentic and has been unaltered.

An event trigger management system, which handles management and delivery of services on a user device that streams media content from a distribution network, determines one or more media items present in media content of the distribution network. One or more interactive items are overlaid over the one or more media items in the media content and one or more event triggers are received from a client application engine, operational on the user device, based on selection of one or more interactive items. A personalized list is generated based on one or more received event triggers for selection of one or more overlaid interactive items and the generated personalized list is displayed or transmitted to distribution network(s) or application engines associated with the user device.

An event trigger management system, which handles management and delivery of services on a user device that streams media content from a distribution network, determines one or more media items present in media content of the distribution network. One or more interactive items are overlaid over the one or more media items in the media content and one or more event triggers are received from a client application engine, operational on the user device, based on selection of one or more interactive items. A personalized list is generated based on one or more received event triggers for selection of one or more overlaid interactive items and the generated personalized list is displayed or transmitted to distribution network(s) or application engines associated with the user device.

According to one embodiment, an electronic device includes a content transmitter. The content transmitter is configured to output a content item including first data and second data to one transmission path, by applying a first copyright protection system to copyright protection of the first data and applying a second copyright protection system to copyright protection of the second data. The first copyright protection system involves encryption of data to be copyright-protected. The second copyright protection system involves no encryption of data to be copyright-protected.

According to one embodiment, an electronic device includes a content transmitter. A method is provided for delivering targeted advertisements into a QAM or IP stream that provides accurate synchronization. The method includes synchronizing the internal content of a IP stream delivering video with an advertisement (ad) stream by providing content information in the IP stream and the network stream, the content information including positional information and/or referential information, wherein the positional information is inserted at key locations identified with a PTS value, and wherein the referential information refers to a position in the IP stream or the ad stream, the referential information including either a PTS value or a frame count.

An exemplary method comprises associating a transfer right with content, the transfer right specifying that the content is permitted to be transferred from a first computing device to a second computing device, transferring the content from the first computing device to the second computing device in accordance with the transfer right, updating information associated with the transfer right based on the transfer of the content from the first computing device to the second computing device, and associating a usage right with the content, the usage right corresponding to a utilization of the content, wherein the first computing device includes at least a server mode of operation, and wherein the second computing device includes both a requester mode of operation and a server mode of operation.
