A camera scanner captures an image of a document stand on which an object is placed using a camera unit. The camera scanner obtains an IP address of an electronic terminal (a smartphone) and an identifier of an image from the image of a display screen of the electronic terminal placed on the document stand by detecting and decoding a QR code. The camera scanner is connected to the electronic terminal based on the IP address, transmits a data transfer request including the identifier of the image to the electronic terminal, and receives image data transferred from the electronic terminal in response to the data transfer request. Then the camera scanner projects and plays an image generated based on the data transferred from the electronic terminal on the document stand using a projector.

Generation of one dimensional guilloche patterns able to be affixed on a document, each guilloche pattern being able to encode variable alphanumeric data providing a different appearance to each guilloche pattern, by formatting alphanumeric data to be encoded in the form of a predefined number of data blocks with a predefined size, generating a carrier function having a plurality of parameters, the formatted data blocks forming at least one of the parameters, and modulating the carrier function by the formatted data blocks so as to encode the alphanumeric data graphically, each data block defining a guilloche pattern, the number of data blocks defining the number of guilloche patterns, the carrier function associated with a formatted data block is modulated locally, each datum of the block being encoded locally in the guilloche pattern, by interpolation of a predefined point associated with the carrier function.

Embodiments of the preset invention include a barcode reader that comprises a housing having a handgrip portion and an upper body portion, a first printed circuit board (PCB) extending into the upper body portion, and an imaging module positioned within the upper body portion. In this instance, the imaging module includes an imaging system having an imager and an imaging lens assembly, the imaging system having a field of view with a central imaging axis passing through a window in the upper body portion and lying on a horizontal plane. The imaging module further includes an aiming light system configured to emit an aiming light pattern, the aiming light system offset from the imaging system along the horizontal plane. Furthermore, the components of the barcode reader are arranged such that the first PCB is positioned at an oblique angle relative to the central imaging axis.

An information processing device includes a retaining unit and an image display. The retaining unit retains image-formation-related information of an image forming apparatus that forms an image. The image display causes a display section of a portable terminal having the display section and an image capturing section to display an image for assisting with an operation of the image forming apparatus based on a captured image result of the image capturing section and the image-formation-related information retained in the retaining unit.

According to one embodiment, a decoloring device includes a reading unit, a decoloring unit, and a control unit. The reading unit is configured to read control information from a first image formed in a predetermined area of a sheet. The decoloring unit is configured to decolor a portion or entirety of a second image, different from the first image, formed on the sheet using a decolorable recording material. The control unit is configured to control erasing of the data of the second image from a storage device, based on the control information, in a case where the decoloring unit decolors the second image.

An image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium includes: an image former that forms an image on a recording medium; an image reader that reads an image formed on a recording medium; an adjuster that adjusts the image former on a basis of a reading result obtained by the image reader by reading an image formed on a recording medium by the image former; and a processor configured to output, to an external apparatus used for diagnosis of the image forming apparatus, the reading result of the image formed on the recording medium by the image former when adjustment is performed by the adjuster.

An image reading apparatus includes an image reading device, a communication device, and a control device. The image reading device reads a source document and generates image data. The communication device communicates with an information processing apparatus via a network. The control device includes a processor, and acts as a controller that generates a first image file based on the image data, when the processor executes a control program. When the image data includes code data corresponding to a code indicating a destination of the image file, the controller generates a second image file by deleting the code data from the image data, and transmits the second image file to the destination indicated by the code, and acquired from the code data, through the communication device.

A copy method used in a cloud server and a peripheral apparatus connected to the cloud server through a network includes steps of: scanning a document by the peripheral apparatus to obtain old image data containing an old information block; transmitting the old information block to the cloud server through the network; generating a new information block based on the old image data by the cloud server, wherein the cloud server generates the new information block being different from the old information block and containing new copy information according to old copy information; transmitting the new information block from the cloud server to the peripheral apparatus; and printing out new image data, containing the new copy information and a portion of the old image data, on a medium by the peripheral apparatus.

An image output method including capturing an image of code pattern including device information specifying an image output device, obtaining the device information from the image of code pattern, obtaining user information specifying a user, and outputting the device information, and the user information or a permission information for temporarily permitting the use of the image output device to an external device, by an information processing device; authenticating the user based on the user information, by a processor; and executing image output processing by the image output device specified based on the device information when authenticating the user based on the user information or when the permission information is sent from the information processing device.

An image forming apparatus includes: a QR code reader that reads a QR code; a code analyzer that analyzes the QR code read by the QR code reader and that generates use history information that is information regarding history of use information of a user; an information updater that adds use information obtained this time to the use history information generated by the code analyzer to update the use history information; a code generator that generates a QR code based on the use history information updated by the information updater; and a display unit that outputs the QR code generated by the code generator.
