20230124441 · 2023-04-20 ·

Audio device transducer arrays and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some examples, the audio device can comprise a housing including a baffle and an acoustically reflective plate spaced apart from and facing at least partially toward the baffle, such that the baffle and the plate define an opening therebetween. The audio device can further comprise an array of electroacoustic transducers disposed within or surrounded by the baffle and configured to emit acoustic waves toward the opening. The array of transducers can be configured to produce acoustic waves having a frequency of about 1.5 kilohertz (kHz) or greater.

A phasing plug adaptor for a speaker assembly includes a plurality of concentric rings and a plurality of concentric channels. The plurality of concentric rings are tapered between an entry-side edge and an exit-side edge. An innermost ring defines a channel that is coaxial with a longitudinal axis.

Asymmetrical high-frequency waveguide, 3-axis rigging, and spherical enclosure for surround speakers

Embodiments are described for a high-frequency waveguide that improves the performance of large-scale surround sound and immersive audio environments. A horn waveguide is configured to be asymmetric about one of a vertical axis and horizontal axis of the waveguide to form an asymmetric horn waveguide. A spherical enclosure surrounds the asymmetric horn waveguide to form a horn speaker, and a three-axis mounting system is configured to fix the horn speaker to one of a wall or ceiling surface of the venue, wherein the mounting system facilitates rotating the horn speaker to a location that provides maximum coverage of the venue within the passband of the asymmetric horn waveguide.

Non-limiting examples of the present disclosure relate to devices, systems and methods of manufacture for an exemplary waveguide usable for acoustic signal transmission for non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of a wooden specimen. An exemplary waveguide comprises a mating portion for interfacing with a transducer horn of an ultrasonic transducer. The mating portion comprises an impact surface and a contact well that is fabricated within the impact surface so that the contact well is not contacted during an impact that drives the waveguide into wood. The contact well is utilized to connect the waveguide to a transducer horn. The waveguide further comprises a body portion that comprises a radiating component optimized for non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of wood and transmission of ultrasonic signal data. Further non-limiting examples describe an interfacing component for securing one or more devices to the waveguide as well as an extraction component that is configured to minimize damage to the waveguide during extraction.

Acoustic waveguides

A method of designing an acoustic waveguide in which acoustic waves travelling along the waveguide are treated as exhibiting single parameter behaviour, and in which the waveguide provides a boundary confining the acoustic waves as they travel along the wave propagation path and has two substantially parallel, primary surfaces spaced apart a distance less than a wavelength of a high frequency acoustic wave. The primary surfaces may be planar, curved, or a combination of planar portions and curved portions.
