Voice controlled assistant with coaxial speaker and microphone arrangement
09837083 · 2017-12-05 · ·

A voice controlled assistant has a housing to hold one or more microphones, one or more speakers, and various computing components. The housing has an elongated cylindrical body extending along a center axis between a base end and a top end. The microphone(s) are mounted in the top end and the speaker(s) are mounted proximal to the base end. The microphone(s) and speaker(s) are coaxially aligned along the center axis. The speaker(s) are oriented to output sound directionally toward the base end and opposite to the microphone(s) in the top end. The sound may then be redirected in a radial outward direction from the center axis at the base end so that the sound is output symmetric to, and equidistance from, the microphone(s).

A unidirectional condenser microphone having a front opening portion and a rear opening portion for respectively passing sound waves to a front surface and a back surface of a diaphragm of a microphone unit, the unidirectional condenser microphone includes: an acoustic tube provided in the front opening portion; a first air chamber provided between the rear opening portion and the back surface of the diaphragm of the microphone unit, and having a predetermined acoustic capacity; and a second air chamber communicating into the first air chamber, and having an acoustic capacity larger than the predetermined acoustic capacity, wherein sensitivity to a direction of 0° with respect to a directional axis is improved by the first air chamber and the acoustic tube, and a proximity effect due to the sound wave from a direction of 180° with respect to the directional axis is prevented by the second air chamber.

Acoustic device

An acoustic device that is adapted to be worn on the body of a user, with a first acoustic transducer and a second acoustic transducer, where the first transducer is closer to the expected location of a first ear of the user than is the second transducer, a third acoustic transducer and a fourth acoustic transducer, where the third transducer is closer to the expected location of a second ear of the user than is the fourth transducer, and a controller that is adapted to independently control the phase and frequency response of the first, second, third and fourth transducers.

Three Cell Folded Corner Horn

This device consists of a hollow triangular pyramid shaped speaker mounting system that is divided into three cells. The device mounts into a corner of a structural space at the convergence of three plane surfaces such as two adjacent walls and the ceiling or the floor. The device would divide the acoustical waves from a speaker into three segments where diffusers would channel them into the pyramid toward the apex. A wave reverser would send the waves back toward the open base of the pyramid. When the three sound waves exit the device, they would merge and continue expanding along each of the three plane surfaces in the hosting structural space. Each segment of the sound waves would follow a path that takes the form of a folded horn. That would provide for a very large expansion of the sound waves coming from this device.

ACOUSTIC FOCUSING APPARATUS

An acoustic focusing apparatus helps focus sound waves to target a predictable region. The predictable region may include the ears of a user. The acoustic focusing apparatus provides a plurality of transducers arranged in a planar array; whereas the transducers are on the same plane and mounted along parallel rows. The apparatus further provides a plurality of wave guides extending from a wave output surface on the transducers to focus the sound waves towards the predictable region. The apparatus utilizes at least one reflective portion that reflects the sound waves emitting from the wave guides towards the predictable region, and also helps diffuse and mask the source of the sound waves. In this manner, the apparatus focuses an audio signal directly at a person's ears so as to produce private, high fidelity stereo sound without use of headphones, while simultaneously not disturbing others within the same environment.

Mobile electronic device stand

A stand for a mobile electronic device provides a font stand support surface and a rear stand support surface. Conveniently, the stand is configured to carry each of a mobile electronic device and a battery recharge pack. The front stand support surface and the rear stand support surface are formed in an inverted V shape orientation angled at an inclined plane and joined at an apex along a common edge between the two support surfaces. The inclined plane is angled at an angle to allow the user to view a display screen of the mobile electronic device. A passive acoustic enhancement panel is disposed along a side edge at an end of the stand. The passive acoustic enhancement panel is oriented to reflect an audio signal emitted from the mobile electronic device forwardly of the stand where the enhance acoustic signals may be heard by the user.

Electronic apparatus

An electronic apparatus includes a housing having a sound receiving hole that guides a sound outside the housing into the housing, a substrate that is disposed in the housing and on which a microphone is mounted, an elastic member that is disposed so as to fill a gap between the substrate and an inner wall of the housing excluding a portion of the inner wall that is located around the sound receiving hole and so as to form a space between the substrate and the portion of the inner wall of the housing, which is located around the sound receiving hole, and a first member that is disposed so as to partially occupy the space.

Entrained microphones

In some embodiments, a microphone system may include a deformable element that may be made of a material that is subject to deformation in response to external phenomenon. Sensing ports may be in contact with a respective region of the deformable element and may be configured to sense a deformation of a region of the deformable element and generate a signal in response thereto. The plurality of signals may be useable to determine spatial dependencies of the external phenomenon. The external phenomenon may be pressure and the signals may be useable to determine spatial dependencies of the pressure.

An electronic apparatus according to an embodiment may comprise: a housing including a first housing having a first surface facing a first direction and a second housing having a second surface facing a second direction opposite to the first direction; a first audio port having a sound hole formed in the first surface of the housing; a speaker arranged in the housing and configured to output the sound to the outside via the sound hole of the first audio port; and a first recess formed by extending from the first audio port, wherein the first recess extends from the first audio port by a first length to have a first depth and a first width and is configured to form a passage through which the sound output from the speaker moves while the electronic apparatus is worn.

Acoustic device and headrest

To enable an output sound of a speaker unit to be output as a surface sound source in a limited space. A three-dimensional knitted fabric is provided at a position substantially facing speaker units while being given tension in a surface direction. Since the tension is applied, a pair of ground knitted fabrics constituting the three-dimensional knitted fabric and a connecting yarn extending back and forth between the ground knitted fabrics vibrate due to their elastic action. In particular, string vibration is generated in the connecting yarn. Due to this vibration, output sounds of the speaker units are propagated in the surface direction of the three-dimensional knitted fabric, and as a result, the three-dimensional knitted fabric propagates and radiates acoustic waves of a surface sound source.
