HEARING DEVICES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A hearing device includes: an earpiece having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of the earpiece is configured for insertion into an ear canal of a user, and wherein at least a part of the earpiece is configured for placement along a first bend of the ear canal; wherein the earpiece comprises a flexible member, at least a part of the flexible member located at the first end of the earpiece, wherein at least a part of the flexible member is configured for placement along a second bend of the ear canal located between the first bend and an eardrum.
AUDITORY PROTECTION SYSTEM
The present invention relates to protection and communication apparatuses, methods and kits, especially for maintaining position and sealing of protective and/or communication headwear about a head/neck/ear region and in particular in maintaining position and sealing of an ear phone or hearing aid or the like within the acoustic meatus of an ear so as to exclude entry of sonic, sound or vibrational waves to the inner ear and tympanic membrane.
Earpiece intra-auricular support system
An earpiece including an intra-auricular support, a projection element coupled thereto, and a flexible body disposed thereon and inside an external ear canal of an ear, and a moldable earpiece material moldable about the intra-auricular support to conform to the auricle of an ear and curable to provide a fixed configuration of the earpiece.
Universal adjustable ear tip
An audio device for insertion into an ear canal of a user that includes an adjustable ear tip. The ear tip is formed by a sleeve disposed on a body of the audio device with a first end of the sleeve coupled to an output end of the body. An opposite second end of the sleeve is coupled to a collar that encircles and threadably engages the body. In a retracted state, the sleeve lies alongside an exterior surface of the body. Rotation of the collar relative to the body moves the collar axially along the body and flexes the sleeve radially outward away from the body. An extent of rotation of the collar is selectable to provide a radial dimension of the sleeve and thus the ear tip that provides a suitable fit of the audio device with a user's ear canal.
A METHOD OF CUSTOMIZING A HEARING DEVICE COMPONENT, A HEARING DEVICE COMPONENT AND A HEARING DEVICE
A method of customizing a component of a hearing device to the ear of a hearing device user. The method includes the steps of providing the hearing device component as a pre-form including a shape-memory material, heating the hearing device component, and bringing the hearing device component in contact with at least a portion of the ear after reaching a pre-set contact temperature such that the hearing device component conforms to the individual shape of the at least a portion of ear. The shape of the hearing device component is fixed by attending a hardening time of the shape-memory material. Therefore, the hearing device component perfectly fits to the geometry of the user's ear canal.
Adaptable ear tip for headphones
A method of customizing the fit of a portion of an in-ear audio device within a portion of an ear includes determining a degree of sealing between the in-ear audio device and the portion of the ear and applying a voltage to at least a portion of an ear tip coupled to the in-ear audio device to selectively expand or contract the portion of the ear tip based on the determination until the degree of sealing between the in-ear audio device and the portion of the ear achieves a desired degree of sealing.
Method and apparatus for coil alignment in electromagnetic hearing implant
A sound processor assembly having a coil support device which allows for the coil to be moved without damaging the plastic components or deforming the shell body. This is done by making the ear shell of the sound processor assembly, whether an integrated sound processor assembly or a linked sound processor assembly, out of two separate polymers: a first polymer that does not soften when heat is applied, and a second polymer which does. The first polymer is used for the first polymer zone of the shell which is shaped to the ear canal, while the second polymer is used for the section of the shell which supports the coil. This allows the shell to be heated, thereby softening the second polymer but not the first, and allows the coil to be repositioned to a new location.
HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICE
A method of fitting a hearing assistance device includes heating and earmold including plastic material to a temperature sufficient to facilitate molding of the plastic material, the earmold being insertable into an ear of a user for molding in an ear of a user, and allowing the earmold to cool to provide a shaped earmold.
Self-fitting in-canal component and hearing assistance device
The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for constructing and fitting a component that is designed to be worn at least partially within an ear canal. The methods and apparatus may be used in hearing aids such as receiver-in-canal hearing aids and completely-in-canal hearing aids. The techniques may also be use in constructing and fitting other devices including audio earbuds and ear plugs.
