System and Method for Data Forwarding in a Communications System
A method for operating a transmitting device includes receiving a first packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) associated with a first remote device (RD), the first PDCP PDU including at least a first PDCP header, generating a first nested PDCP PDU in accordance with the first PDCP PDU, the first nested PDCP PDU including a second PDCP header and the first PDCP PDU, the second PDCP header comprising a first PDU type indicator indicating that the first nested PDCP PDU includes a first relayed PDCP PDU and a first identifier associated with the first RD, and sending the first nested PDCP PDU on a radio bearer.
Method for Enhanced Power Saving Mode for a Wireless Device
A method of operating a wireless device in a radio access network may be provided where an active time is defined for monitoring of downlink transmissions in an idle state following a connected state. The method may include providing wireless communication with the radio access network in a connected state. A disconnect message may be received including an indication to disable monitoring of downlink transmissions in the idle state. Responsive to receiving the disconnect message including the indication to disable monitoring of downlink transmissions in the idle state, a power saving mode for the wireless device may be initiated without waiting a duration of the active time after receiving the disconnect message.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BEAM SWITCHING AND REPORTING
A UE may receive, from a base station, a message requesting BSI. The UE may determine a number N of BSI reports to send to the base station, and each BSI report may indicate a beam index corresponding to a beam and a received power associated with the beam. The UE may send, to the base station, N BSI reports based on the message requesting BSI. The UE may receive, from the base station, a set of signals through a set of beams, and determine the received power for each signal of the set of signals received through each beam of the set of beams, each received power may be associated with a beam of the set of beams.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BEAM SWITCHING AND REPORTING
A UE may select a first beam for communication with a base station. The UE may attempt, through the selected first beam, at least one RACH procedure with the base station. The UE may determine that the at least one RACH procedure failed with the base station. The UE may send, after a successful RACH procedure with the base station, information indicating that the at least one RACH procedure failed. In an aspect, the UE may select a new beam for communication with the base station after the determination that the at least one RACH procedure failed, and at least a portion of the successful RACH procedure may be performed through the selected new beam.
Wireless communications and power configurations
Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for wireless communications. A wireless device may receive at least one power configuration parameter from a base station. The at least one power configuration parameter may be based on information that the wireless device sends to the base station.
Communications device and method for improving the transmission of random access messages
A communications device to transmit data to a mobile communications network includes one or more network elements providing a wireless access interface for communication. The communications device includes a controller controlling a transmitter to transmit a random access message to a first network element via a random access channel of the wireless access interface common to one or more other communications devices, to receive in response an acknowledgement indicating an allocation of communications resources of a shared up-link channel for the communications device to transmit signals to the mobile communications network, or a negative acknowledgment indicating the communications device has not been allocated communications resources of the shared up-link channel. After detecting random access failure conditions by the controller, the controller in combination with the transmitter re-transmits the random access message one or more times, with a variable delay greater than or equal to a delay of a previous re-transmission.
ADJUSTING POWER CONSUMPTION IN A TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK BASED ON TRAFFIC PREDICTION
A method of operating a radio network node to adjust power consumption of a telecommunications network is provided. The method includes determining a traffic prediction representing how each node of a set of nodes will interact with the radio network node over a period of time using a combined traffic model based on a traffic model of each node in the set of nodes. The method further includes determining to enable or disable at least one power related feature of the radio network node based on the traffic prediction.
MULTIMODE RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGY CONTROL BASED ON POWER AND PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS
A user equipment (UE) employing different radio access technologies (RATs) concurrently or successively provides the UE the opportunity to select a particular RAT to support an access service used by one or more software applications of the UE. A RAT operational control scheme provides for opportunistic enablement and disablement of a RAT and/or intra-RAT configuration so as to provide sufficient uplink and downlink throughput for supported software applications while reducing unnecessary power consumption by the UE, which often is battery powered.
DYNAMIC SELECTION OF PARAMETERS FOR ENHANCED QUALITY OF SERVICE (QOS) AND RELIABILITY
This disclosure provides methods and devices for managing the allocation of resources for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmissions associated with a scheduled time period. In some implementations, a wireless station (STA) transmits, to an access point (AP), a request frame indicating a bandwidth or a quantity of spatial streams (or both) for the UL transmissions, and indicating a bandwidth or a quantity of spatial streams (or both) for the DL transmissions. In some instances, the request frame also may indicate the STA's intention to transmit UL data as duplicates carried on different communication links. The STA receives a trigger frame indicating that the STA is scheduled to transmit or receive data during the time period. The STA transmits data to, or receives data from, one or more other devices during the time period.
RAT Selection In Dual Mode Transceivers
The wireless apparatus and network node disclosed herein facilitate the selection and use of one of multiple RATs for communications between the wireless apparatus and the network node. The selected RAT provides a lower energy consumption at the wireless apparatus for the communications with the network node. To that end, the wireless apparatus selects between at least two RATs, e.g., first and second RATs, where the first and second RATs are both coordinated by a network node in communication with the wireless apparatus, and where a system bandwidth of the second RAT and a system bandwidth of the first RAT are both comprised within a third system bandwidth of a third RAT coordinated by the network node.
