SPATIAL RESOURCE POOL TECHNIQUES FOR MULTIPLE CONCURRENT TRANSMISSIONS IN SIDELINK WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
20210051629 · 2021-02-18 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for sidelink wireless communications are described in which multiple resource pools are available for sidelink communications. Each resource pool may include a set of frequency domain resources, a set of time domain resources, and one or more subsets of available spatial resources. A transmitting user equipment (UE) may select a first spatial resource of a first resource pool for the sidelink communication, and determine a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) pattern for the sidelink communications based on the selected first spatial resource of the first resource pool. The transmitting UE may then transmit the sidelink communication and DMRS to a receiving UE using the first spatial resource of the first resource pool. The receiving UE may identify the DMRS and use the DMRS to demodulate the sidelink communication of the transmitting UE.

TECHNIQUES FOR CONTROLLING ADMISSION FOR SIDELINK COMMUNICATIONS
20210037420 · 2021-02-04 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which two or more UEs of a wireless communications system may establish a sidelink connection. A first UE that is initiating sidelink communications may evaluate whether the sidelink connection can support a quality of service (QoS) for a data flow prior to admitting the data flow. The first UE may evaluate a link quality with one or more other UEs that are to use the data flow on the sidelink connection, evaluate system congestion of time/frequency resources that are available for the sidelink connection, or any combinations thereof, and admit the data flow based on the evaluation. A link quality of the sidelink connection may be determined based on a type of communication associated with the data flow, such as unicast communications with one other UE, multicast communications with multiple other UEs, or broadcast transmissions to multiple UEs.

METHODS FOR POWER SAVINGS WITH MILLIMETER WAVE RELAYS
20210007104 · 2021-01-07 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In one example, a first user equipment (UE) identifies a trigger condition associated with a first communication link with a base station and establishes a second communication link with a second UE. The UE may transmit a relay request to the second UE based on the trigger condition, wherein the relay request instructs the second UE to relay communications for the first UE. The first UE communicates with the base station via the second communication link. In another example, a base station establishes communication links with a first and second UE. The base station receives a data forwarding request that instructs the base station to use the second UE to relay communications between it and the first UE. The base station communicates with the first UE via the second communication link based at least in part on the relay request.
