20230217320 · 2023-07-06 ·

A method according to a first example embodiment is performed by a user equipment, UE, in connection with a first network node in a first cell. The method comprises: receiving (202) a first request from the first network node in the first cell redirecting the UE to an indicated carrier or radio access technology, RAT. The first request comprises: an indication that the UE should enter an inactive state, and an indication that the first request relates to a Multimedia Priority Services, MPS, session. The method further comprises, responsive to receiving the first request: entering (204) an inactive state; selecting (206) a second cell on the indicated carrier or RAT; and resuming (208) a connection for the MPS session on the second cell. The connection is resumed with priority.

Radio capability change

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for modifying a radio capability. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that communicates with a RAN node. The processor registers with a first communication system via the RAN node. The processor detects a trigger to perform radio capability change for at least one radio access technology (“RAT”) and transitions the apparatus to an idle state. The processor further sends a request to the first communication system to update one or more UE radio capabilities while in the idle state.

MA PDU HANDLING OF INTERWORKING FROM 5G TO 2G/3G
20230217321 · 2023-07-06 ·

A method of handling interworking from 5G system (5GS) to 2/3G for an PDU session with a 3GPP EPS PDN leg is proposed. Upon intersystem change from S1 mode to A/Gb mode or Iu mode, for a PDN connection which was established as a user plane resource of an MA PDU session: if the SM activates a PDP context using parameters from the default EPS bearer context of the PDN connection, then the SMF can initiate a network-requested PDU session release procedure over non-3GPP access or perform a local release of the MA PDU session; the UE can perform a local release of the MA PDU session. Otherwise, the SMF can initiate a network-requested PDU session modification procedure over 5G non-3GPP access to move traffic of the MA PDU session to 5G non-3GPP access, or initiate a network-requested PDU session release procedure over non-3GPP access.

Methods and nodes for facilitating a PDU session procedure in interworking networks

A method at an Access and mobility Management Function (AMF) for facilitating a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session procedure for a User Equipment (UE) in a 5th Generation System (5GS) network, wherein the 5GS network is interworking with an Evolved Packet System (EPS) network, and a Packet Data Network Gateway Control plane Function+Session Management Function (PGW-C+SMF) supporting the interworking is selected for managing the PDU session. The method comprises determining whether the PDU session supports interworking with the EPS network, based on at least one of a capability of the UE and a subscription data of the UE; and sending an indication which indicates whether the PDU session supports interworking with the EPS network to the PGW-C+SMF.

NODE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD PERFORMED THEREBY
20230216893 · 2023-07-06 ·

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes generating a report, and transmitting the report to an access node in the wireless communication system, wherein the report is generated in or after an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) voice related process of the UE.

CDMA/EVDO virtualization

Systems and methods are disclosed for a CDMA base station management gateway for integrating CDMA into an LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) core network. In one embodiment, a system is disclosed, comprising: a base station management gateway situated between a code division multiple access (CDMA) base transceiver station (BTS) and an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) core network, the base station management gateway also situated between an additional base station and the EPC core network, the base station management gateway The method may further comprise: a stateful interworking proxy configured to perform interworking of CDMA signaling to Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (EUTRAN) signaling by using an S2a/S2b interface toward the EPC and an A10/A11 interface towards the CDMA BTS; and a packet routing virtual function configured to enable mobile devices attached to the CDMA BTS to obtain IP connectivity via the EPC core network.

Systems and methods for 5G location support using service based interfaces

Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) using a location server and service based interfaces (SBIs) and SBI service operations in a Fifth Generation wireless network. The location server may be, e.g., a Location Management Function (LMF). The LMF may be in either a serving Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) for a UE or in a Home PLMN for a roaming UE. The LMF may receive a location service request for the UE using an SBI and may communicate with another entity in the network, through a second entity and using an SBI, to obtain location information for the UE measured by the other entity. The LMF may determine a location for the UE based on the location information.

System and methods for network control of 5G operation mode

Systems and methods provide for network-based selection of a UE device's 5G operation mode. A network device in a wireless core network receives a policy query for a user equipment (UE) device. The UE device is capable of 5G non-standalone (NSA) and 5G standalone (SA) operation modes. The network device identifies one or more of subscription data for the UE device, stored network data associated with the UE device, or dynamic network data relevant to the UE device. The network device assigns, based on the identifying, a radio access technology/frequency selection and prioritization (RFSP) value for the UE device. The network device sends the RFSP value to an access management function in the wireless core network for controlling selection of the 5G NSA operation mode or 5G SA operation mode.
