SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC REDIRECTION OF WIRELESS CLIENT TO NEARBY WIRELESS HOTSPOT DEVICE
A wireless network gateway redirects a wireless client device to a wireless network hotspot device. The wireless network gateway includes a hotspot location determining component, a client location determining component, a redirecting component and a communication component. The hotspot location determining component determines the location of the wireless network hotspot device. The client location determining component determines the location of the wireless client device. The redirecting component generates a redirection instruction based on the location of the wireless network hotspot device and the location of the wireless client device. The communication component transmits the redirection instruction to the wireless client device to instruct the wireless client device to redirect to the wireless network hotspot device.
Selecting radio access for mobile terminals
There is provided a selecting of a radio access for a mobile terminal, comprising the steps of obtaining coverage information from a coverage information database for two or more nodes of the mobile communication network, obtaining configuration and/or state information from an inventory database for two or more nodes of the mobile communication network, and generating correlation information for two or more nodes correlating the coverage information obtained from the coverage database and the configuration and/or state information of nodes obtained from the inventory database.
Vehicle-to-everything (V2X), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) policy for managing distracted driving
Disclosed are a system and method of regulating access to devices that can distract a driver that is operating a motor vehicle based on received Vehicle-to-Everything communications including Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure information. One example method may include determining a vehicle is approaching a vehicle movement restriction location requiring a vehicle movement restriction, determining an amount of time associated with the vehicle movement restriction, and determining whether a device located inside the vehicle will be made accessible to a user during the vehicle movement restriction based on the amount of time associated with the vehicle movement restriction.
Power reduction in activity monitor based on area update
A device, system, and method detect an activity and utilize a mitigation scheme. The method is performed at a device that is configured to establish a network connection to a network, the network including a plurality of areas, each area being defined based on a grouping of a plurality of neighboring cells, the device being associated with one of the areas at a select time. The method includes determining between an activity status and a non-activity status associated with the device. When the activity status is determined, the method includes determining an area update rate indicating a number of changes to the associated area over a period of time. When the area update rate exceeds a predetermined update rate threshold, the method includes selecting a mitigation scheme configured to reduce an amount of power used by the device.
CONTROLLING MOBILE DEVICE CALLS, TEXT MESSAGES AND DATA USAGE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE
Disclosed are a system and method of regulating mobile device communications while operating a motor vehicle. One example method may include determining a speed event indicating that a speed of the motor vehicle has performed at least one of exceeded a first threshold above which mobile device usage restriction policies are invoked and fallen below a second threshold allowing the mobile device restriction policies to be removed. The first threshold may be equal to or greater than the second threshold. As a result of obtaining the speed event, the method may also provide transmitting the speed event to a remote edge gateway server located remotely from the motor vehicle, which stores the speed event for reference purposes when determining a policy for routing a particular mobile device call, text message and/or mobile data session.
Selecting a cell of a wireless cellular communication network
The present invention relates to a method for selecting a cell of a wireless cellular communication network (100) having a plurality of cells (111-115). According to the method, a cell size information representing a size of an area served by a cell (111-115) of the plurality of cells is received by a user equipment (106). The received cell size information is transmitted from the user equipment (106) to a base station (105) of the wireless cellular communication network (100) by which the user equipment (106) is served. A cell (111-115) of the plurality of cells is selected for serving the user equipment (106) based on the cell size information.
Energy Budgeted System Recovery
This disclosure relates to energy budgeted cellular service recovery techniques. A wireless device may determine one or more energy budgets for service recovery. It may be determined that cellular service loss is currently occurring. Cellular service recovery may be attempted, where service recovery scan timing for the attempt to recover cellular service is determined based at least in part on the one or more energy budgets for service recovery.
Method and apparatus for serving mobile communication devices using tunneling protocols
A method and apparatus for supporting node-level tunneling for mobile user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network such as a 5.sup.th generation network.
Uplink control plane signaling processing method and device for V2X services, and terminal
An uplink control plane signaling processing method and device for V2X services and a terminal are provided. When a base station indicates an uplink signaling reduction mechanism in first RRC signaling or second RRC signaling, a UE enables the uplink signaling reduction mechanism. The UE selects, based on macro cell uplink resources, to camp on a macro cell or to access a small cell controlled by a plurality of RSUs. The UE reports current location information through an X2 interface between the RSUs and an X2 interface between the RSU and the base station. The first RRC signaling is used for sending system information in system information broadcast.
Determining suitability of an access network
Methods and systems for use in a wireless communications system are disclosed. In some aspects, a method includes determining motion information for a first connection point of one of the plurality of wireless access networks, the motion information indicating motion of the first connection point, causing to be stored, in a data repository, the determined motion information, the database accessible by device via one of the plurality of wireless access networks, obtaining second motion information for a second connection point for a second of the plurality of wireless access networks from the data repository, the second motion information indicating motion of the second connection point; and determining whether to connect to the second connection point based on the second motion information.
