Determining suitability of an access network
Methods and systems for selecting access networks are disclosed. In one aspects, a mobile terminal includes one or more transceivers configured to selectively connect to the plurality of wireless access networks, and hardware processing circuitry configured to perform operations including obtaining, via one of the plurality of wireless access networks, motion information for one or more other access networks of the plurality of access networks, the motion information indicating motion of one or more connection points; and controlling activation of the one or more transceivers to scan for availability of one or more of the other access networks in dependence on the motion information of the other access networks, wherein the scanning for availability comprises powering up at least one of the one or more transceivers to determine which access networks are present within a proximity of the mobile terminal.
Heterogeneous Self-Organizing Network for Access and Backhaul
This application discloses methods for creating self-organizing networks implemented on heterogeneous mesh networks. The self-organizing networks can include a computing cloud component coupled to the heterogeneous mesh network. In the methods and computer-readable mediums disclosed herein, a processor determines if a user equipment (UE) should hand over its service from a base station to a multi-radio access technology (RAT) node, based on heuristics including one or more of: a distance traveled over a time T1, an average speed over a time T2, a destination stored in internal memory within the UE, a speed limit measurement for a nearby road, a possible direction in which the UE could travel, a signal strength measurement for a servicing base station, and a signal strength measurement for the multi-RAT node. A position profile may be used to predict a future location of the UE.
Mobile device information sharing
Methods and systems for selective scanning of connection points are disclosed. In one aspect, a non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprises instructions that configure hardware processing circuitry to perform operations. The operations include determining a location of a mobile terminal, storing network capability information associated with one or more connection points within a defined proximity of the location of the mobile terminal, comparing network capabilities of an existing network connection of the mobile terminal to the stored network capabilities associated with the one or more connection points, selectively scanning for the one or more connection points based on the comparison to determine whether the one or more connection points are available; and switching from the existing network connection to one of the one or more connection points based on the availability of the one or more connection points.
Radio operation switch based on PS mobility data
Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a radio operation switch based on mobility data. In one embodiment, a mobile base station is disclosed, comprising: a global positioning system (GPS) module for determining a current location of the mobile base station; a velocity module coupled to the output of the GPS module for determining a current velocity of the mobile base station; and a controller, the controller configured to perform steps comprising: determining the current velocity of the mobile base station using the velocity module; comparing the current velocity to a threshold; and switching, based on the comparison, from a first radio band to a second radio band.
Access network device, user equipment, communications system, and communication method
The present disclosure relates to communication methods and devices. One example access network device includes at least one processor configured to generate requirement indication information. The requirement indication information is used to indicate a radio resource management (RRM) requirement to be satisfied by a user equipment (UE). The RRM requirement is suitable for a high-speed mobile communication environment. The example access network device also includes a transmitter configured to send the requirement indication information to the UE.
Wireless network roaming in high-speed movement applications
An apparatus includes a first wireless bridge device configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from wireless network access points located along a pathway, and a second wireless bridge device configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from the wireless network access points. The first wireless bridge device and the second wireless bridge device are coupled to and communicate with each other. When the first wireless bridge device is wirelessly connected to a first access point and about to initiate a roaming mode to attempt to wirelessly connect to a second access point, the first wireless bridge device notifies the second wireless bridge device of the initiating of the roaming mode and determines whether the second wireless bridge device is in the roaming mode while the apparatus is moving along the pathway.
Configuration Method And Device Of Measurement Reporting, Measurement Reporting Method And Device
A configuration method of measurement reporting, a measurement reporting method and device are provided. The configuration method of measurement reporting applied to a base station includes: configuring, according to current state information of a terminal, information of a corresponding measurement configuration for the terminal, wherein the information of the measurement configuration configured for measurement reporting of the terminal.
CONTROLLING MOBILE DEVICE CALLS, TEXT MESSAGES AND DATA USAGE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE
Disclosed are a system and method of regulating mobile device communications while operating a motor vehicle. One example method may include determining a speed event indicating that a speed of the motor vehicle has performed at least one of exceeded a first threshold above which mobile device usage restriction policies are invoked and fallen below a second threshold allowing the mobile device restriction policies to be removed. The first threshold may be equal to or greater than the second threshold. As a result of obtaining the speed event, the method may also provide transmitting the speed event to a remote edge gateway server located remotely from the motor vehicle, which stores the speed event for reference purposes when determining a policy for routing a particular mobile device call, text message and/or mobile data session.
Energy Budgeted System Recovery
This disclosure relates to energy budgeted cellular service recovery techniques. A wireless device may determine one or more energy budgets for service recovery. It may be determined that cellular service loss is currently occurring. Cellular service recovery may be attempted, where service recovery scan timing for the attempt to recover cellular service is determined based at least in part on the one or more energy budgets for service recovery.
