Radio capability change

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for modifying a radio capability. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that communicates with a RAN node. The processor registers with a first communication system via the RAN node. The processor detects a trigger to perform radio capability change for at least one radio access technology (“RAT”) and transitions the apparatus to an idle state. The processor further sends a request to the first communication system to update one or more UE radio capabilities while in the idle state.

DYNAMIC ALLOCATION OF BANDWIDTH IN 5G WIRELESS NETWORK
20230217505 · 2023-07-06 · ·

Spectrum and radio resources associated with a 5G radio unit (RU) of a host network are dynamically allocated amongst one or more guest networks. A provisioning plane receives inputs from a guest network operator that identifies desired times, locations and/or frequency bands for desired network coverage. The provisioning plane responsively identifies bandwidth allocations that meet the requested parameters for exclusive use by the guest network. User equipment (UE) associated with each guest network maintains time and frequency synchronization with the host network, but otherwise limits its communications to the frequency bands allocated to the guest network. By dynamically obtaining physical radio and spectrum resources from a host provider and by scaling backend network capabilities using cloud resources, guest networks for any number of different purposes can be quickly deployed or modified as desired.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DEVICE MANAGEMENT TO RESTRICT HANDOVER AND ATTACH

A wireless communication module of a technology asset device is operable to derive power from a power source without instruction by the technology asset device to direct power flow from the power source to the wireless communication module. The wireless communication module can connect to a wireless network and receive from an asset management system an instruction regarding a responsive action to be performed by the wireless communication device that relates to a condition.

Method and user equipment for managing failure in registration for accessing network slice

A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for managing a failure in a registration for accessing a network slice, and the UE including processing circuitry configured to perform the method, are provided. The method includes sending a registration request message to a first wireless network while the UE is in a tracking area of a registration area, the registration request message including a Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) corresponding to the network slice, receiving a registration reject message from the first wireless network indicating that the network slice is unavailable, storing a Tracking Area Identifier (TAI) of the tracking area to a rejected list based on the TAI of the tracking area being included the registration reject message, and establishing a connection with a second wireless network in response to the receiving.

Method and apparatus for user equipment directed radio resource control in a UMTS network

A method and apparatus for improved battery performance of user equipment in a wireless network having multiple radio resource control (RRC) states, the method comprising the steps of: monitoring, at the user equipment, application data exchange; determining when no application on the user equipment is expected to exchange data; and initiating, from the user equipment, a transition to a less battery demanding radio resource control state or mode.

Communication system supporting network slicing
11696348 · 2023-07-04 · ·

A communication system is disclosed in which a communication device forms part of a communication system in which network slicing is supported and in which at least one tenant is able to communicate using at least one slice type associated with that tenant. The communication device receives network slicing related information transmitted by a base station. The network slicing related information may comprise information identifying support for a tenant whose communication is supported via the base station, or a network slice type of a tenant that is supported by the base station. The network slicing related information may comprise information comprising at least one communication parameter that is associated with a specific tenant or a specific slice type of a specific tenant. The communication device uses a slice having a slice type of a tenant with which the communication device is associated, based on the network slicing related information.

Systems and methods for expedited session setup of a wireless session

Systems and methods presented herein provide for expediting a setup of a wireless session. In one embodiment, a method comprises intercepting setup information for a wireless session from a mobile core (e.g., operated by an MNO) servicing the UE, initiating a communication session between a Modem Termination System (MTS) and a modem based on the intercepted setup information to support a forthcoming wireless session, and providing the wireless session through the communication session setup.

Systems and methods for latency reduction

Systems and methods presented herein provide for reducing latency in wireless service through a communication link comprising a Modem Termination System (MTS) and a modem. The communication link is coupled with a virtualized wireless link. In one embodiment, a method includes transferring a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) through the communication link to a control portion of the virtualized wireless link, generating a wireless grant to allow the data of the UE through virtualized wireless link, and generating a backhaul grant for the UE to transfer data through the communication link based on the wireless grant information.

Modular defibrillator architecture

Several defibrillators, defibrillator architectures, defibrillator components and methods of operating defibrillators are described. In one aspect, a modular defibrillator architecture is described. A base unit provides a fully functional defibrillator. The functionality of the base unit can be supplemented by attaching an interface unit to the base unit or by connecting a smartphone the base unit. Such devices provide connectivity as well as a screen for displaying supplementary graphics and/or videos which are useful to support both emergency and maintenance & monitoring activities. In some embodiments a battery pack may also or alternatively be coupled to the base unit to prolong the unit's shelf life before recharging or replacement of its batteries is required. If necessary the base unit can be powered from a connected external device such as a mobile communication device.
