SLEEP WAKEUP METHODS FOR DISCONTINUOUS COVERAGE IN NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORK

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for resuming communications with a non-terrestrial network in discontinuous coverage. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining that the UE is or will be in an out-of-coverage state with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) for a first duration; entering a power saving state in response to the determination; exiting the power saving state when the UE expects to be in an in-coverage state with the NTN; and taking one or more actions to resume communications with the NTN.

LOCATION ACQUISITION DELAY MANAGEMENT

A UE may include IoT NTN device, and the UE may acquire the GNSS location to perform the time/frequency pre-compensation. A NAS layer of the UE may initiate a connection request procedure based on the GNSS fix procedure at one or more lower layer of the UE. A network may transmit a paging request to the UE, and manage a paging response timer based on the GNSS fix procedure at the UE.

INTERFERENCE REDUCTION IN HETEROGENOUS TERRESTRIAL/AERIAL NETWORKS

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, an aerial base station determining operating frequencies of terrestrial base stations, and taking one or more actions to reduce the potential for interference between the aerial base station and the terrestrial base stations. Actions taken by the aerial base station may include changing frequency, changing altitude, changing location, and changing transmit power. Other embodiments are disclosed.

SIGNALING FOR EPHEMERIS INFORMATION

The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods for ephemeris signaling in wireless networks.

Conditional Handovers for Non-Terrestrial Networks

A UE may perform a location-based conditional handover (CHO) based on a region information and size parameter associated with a serving cell of a non-terrestrial network (NTN). In time-based CHO, the UE may perform CHO in response to expiration of a network-configured wait time. Alternatively, the UE may perform CHO by randomly selecting a wait time from a network configured time range. The selection may be randomized using a network provided seed or using a cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) value. In elevation-based CHO, the UE may perform CHO in response to the elevation angle of a satellite being less than a network configured threshold. When the UE is configured with multiple cells of the NTN, and the CHO criteria for two or more of the cells are satisfied, the UE may select a target cell for CHO based on network indicated prioritization of the cells.

ORBITAL POSITION INFORMATION DELIVERY

The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods to provide positional information for one or more NTN devices to a UE to be utilized for one or more UE operations.

Transmission of group handover message

Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable medium for enabling an efficient group handover mechanism that has less signaling overhead than single UE handover are provided. An example method at a base station includes transmitting a group handover request for the group of UEs to a target base station. The method further includes receiving a group handover acknowledgment from the target base station. The method further includes transmitting a group handover message to the group of UEs.

Methods, systems, and devices for detecting a neighboring base station to perform a handover for an unmanned aerial vehicle in a mobile network

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a notification from a serving base station regarding a communication device over a mobile network indicating discovery of a target base station, and obtaining a device type of the communication device and a first cell identifier of the target base station. Further embodiments include providing instructions to the serving base station to request the communication device to obtain a second cell identifier of the target base station, and obtaining the second cell identifier of the target base station from the serving base station over the mobile network. Additional embodiments include providing instructions to the serving base station to generate a communication link between the serving base station and the target base station based on the second cell identifier. Other embodiments are disclosed.
