Cold crucible comprising metal oxide barrier and method for manufacturing same
A metal oxide barrier and a connecting method for solving the problems in which sectors of an existing cold crucible are connected by means of a mica plate and the mica plate is damaged due to arcing and the like and in which the sectors are strongly connected by means of the mica plate and thus are difficult to replace and maintain. A cold crucible, comprising a metal oxide barrier, according to the present invention can prevent arcing, enables reduction of damage on the edge part of a water cooling sector due to a molten material and thus enhances durability. Moreover, the metal oxide barrier can easily be replaced compared to an existing mica plate and thus enables easy maintenance and repair.

LEVITATION MELTING METHOD USING MOVABLE INDUCTION UNITS
The invention relates to a levitation melting process and a device for producing castings with movable induction units. In this process, induction units are used in which the opposite ferrite poles with the induction coils are movable and move in opposite directions. In this way, the induction units for melting the batches can be arranged close together in order to increase the efficiency of the induced magnetic field. When casting the molten batch, the induced magnetic field is reduced by increasing the distance between the ferrite poles with the induction coils, thus preventing the melt from touching the ferrite poles or the induction coils.

System and method of melting and controlling the flow of molten metal by electromagnetic force utilizing multiple induction coils
An induction coil assembly associated with controlling the flow of molten material used in casting or deposition of precious and/or non-precious metals on a substrate is disclosed. The assembly comprises one or more induction coils associated with induction melting of electrically conductive material by applying a predetermined current value. The assembly further comprises a crucible comprising the electrically conductive material in which an electromagnetic field is generated therein by the predetermined current value applied to the induction coils. The electromagnetic field associated with the electrically conductive material is modulated; and is used to generate smaller units of the electrically conductive material by interrupting velocity of a flow of the material in order to produce grains or apply layers on the substrate. Corresponding methods are also disclosed.
Cold crucible structure
A cold crucible structure according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a cold crucible structure according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a cold crucible unit including hollow top and bottom caps, a plurality of segments connecting the top cap and the bottom cap, slits disposed between the segments, and a reaction area surrounded by the segments; and an induction coil unit disposed to cover the outer side of the cold crucible unit and disposed across the longitudinal directions of the segments and the slits, in which the diameter of the reaction area is defined as a crucible diameter, the crucible diameter is 100 to 300 mm, and a width of each of the slits is defined by
(mm)(where d.sub.slit is the width of each of the slits and Ø is the crucible diameter).

CRUCIBLE INDUCTION FURNACE AND METHOD OF CHECKING STATUS THEREOF
The functional condition of an induction crucible furnace is checked by first establishing a set-point parameter corresponding to an optimum functional condition of the induction crucible furnace and characterizing the vibratory behavior of same. Then, during normal operation of the furnace, an actual-value parameter of the vibratory behavior is determined. These two parameters are then compared and, if a magnitude of a difference therebetween exceeds a threshold, an alarm is generated.
