PLASMA SOURCE FOR HAND DISINFECTION
An apparatus that dries and disinfects areas of the body without contact. A disinfecting effect is produced by a plasma generator which imparts the disinfecting effect to an air stream heated for hand drying. The plasma generator generates reactive plasma species, which are brought to human skin by the air stream. Contact with the plasma source and high-voltage components is avoided. The invention also relates a method for disinfecting human skin.
PLASMA ACTUATOR FOR VEHICLE AERODYNAMIC DRAG REDUCTION
A plasma actuator includes a first electrode disposed on a substrate, covered by a dielectric layer, and a second electrode disposed on the dielectric layer. In operation, the plasma actuator creates a plasma region, altering air flowing over the actuator. The plasma actuator in various embodiments: has no moving parts, helps to improve fuel economy by reducing aerodynamic drag, improves vehicle stability control under severe unsteady flow environments, reduces wind noise around a vehicle on which the actuator is used, and reduces emission and CO2 foot print through the fuel economy improvement.
METHOD AND APPARATUS OF PLASMA FLOW CONTROL FOR DRAG REDUCTION
A plasma plate is used to minimize drag of a fluid flow over an exposed surface. The plasma plate includes a series of plasma actuators positioned on the surface. Each plasma actuator is made of a dielectric separating a first electrode exposed to a fluid flow and a second electrode separated from the fluid flow under the dielectric. A pulsed direct current power supply provides a first voltage to the first electrode and a second voltage to the second electrode. The series of plasma actuators is operably connected to a bus which distribute powers and is positioned to minimize flow disturbances. The plasma actuators are arranged into a series of linear rows such that a velocity component is imparted to the fluid flow.
PLASMA EQUIPMENT FOR TREATING POWDER
A powder plasma processing apparatus is disclosed. The powder plasma processing apparatus is a powder plasma processing apparatus of a circular surface discharge plasma module, and the apparatus includes a plate-like electrode layer serving as an external surface of the circular surface discharge plasma module, an insulating layer disposed on an internal surface of the plate-like electrode layer, and a plasma generating electrode disposed on the insulating layer, wherein the circular surface discharge plasma module rotates, an alternating voltage is applied to the plasma generating electrode and the plate-like electrode layer to generate plasma around the plasma generating electrode, and a powder for plasma processing is processed by the plasma within the circular surface discharge plasma module.
Continuous large area cold atmospheric pressure plasma sheet source
The present disclosure is generally directed to a plasma sheet source and methods of using same. The plasma sheet source includes a cylindrical electrode having a conductive cylindrical core surrounded by a dielectric material, a plurality of channels configured to direct gas from a gas inlet to the electrode, and a plasma outlet positioned below the electrode. Gas is introduced to the plasma sheet source and directed toward the electrode, which when powered by pulsed direct current, produces plasma as the gas ionizes. The produced plasma is then directed out of the plasma outlet to a specimen for treatment of the specimen. Notably, the plasma exiting the plasma outlet is in the form of a plasma sheet that is at approximately room temperature.
Cooling device
A cooling device cools an electronic component using a plasma actuator provided with a dielectric, a first electrode arranged on one surface of the dielectric to generate an induced flow, and a second electrode arranged on the other surface of the dielectric, in which the electronic component and a third electrode are arranged in a flow direction of the induced flow, and a voltage applied to the third electrode is a voltage that generates a potential difference, which is capable of attracting the induced flow, between the first electrode and the third electrode.
Methods and apparatus for pulsed-DC dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuator and circuit
A plasma generating device intended to induce a flow in a fluid via plasma generation includes a dielectric separating two electrodes and a power supply. The first electrode is exposed to a fluid flow while the second electrode is positioned under the dielectric. The power supply is electrically coupled to a switch and the first and second electrodes. When the power supply is energized by repeated action of the switch, it causes a pulsed DC current between the electrodes which causes the fluid to ionize generating a plasma. The generation of the plasma induces a force with a velocity component in the fluid.
