An adapter module includes a bottom housing segment, a top housing segment and a circuit board. The bottom housing segment is structured to mount to a topside of an external circuit board as a first type of component. The circuit board is structured to mount to an interior region of the bottom housing segment. The top housing segment is pivotably connected to the bottom housing segment to move between a closed position and an open position, where in the open position, the interior region can be exposed to allow for the one or multiple components to be accessed.

A tray is insertable forward in a front-rear direction into a connector main of a card connector. The tray has a first card accommodation portion and a second card accommodation portion. The first card accommodation portion is positioned at a position different from a position of the second card accommodation portion in an up-down direction perpendicular to the front-rear direction. The first card accommodation portion has a first elastic beam portion, a first facing portion and a first bulge. The second card accommodation portion has a second elastic beam portion, a second facing portion, and a second bulge. The first elastic beam portion and the second elastic beam portion are positioned at positions different from each other in the front-rear direction. The first elastic beam portion and the second elastic beam portion are elastically deformable independently of each other.

Technology is provided for a storage card adapter. The storage card adapter is used for housing storage cards (e.g., M.2 storage cards), and the storage card adapter can then be inserted into a drive bay. The storage card adapter includes a compression latch system that, when engaged, brings together the cover and carrier frame of the storage card adapter such that at least 100 lbs of compressive force is applied to thermal pads disposed on either side of storage cards housed within the storage card adapter. The compression latch system includes a cam into which a shaft of a compression latch is inserted. When a lever attached to one end of the shaft is pivoted about the shaft, a ramp on the opposite end of the shaft engages with an engagement ramp within the cam to thereby pull together the cover and carrier frame and provide the desired compressive force to the thermal pads. The storage card adapter also includes a spring latch that locks the lever of the compression latch into place when the compression latch is fully engaged with the cam.

The first connection device can be associated with a modular computing device, and the second connection device can be associated with a modular component to be implemented within the modular computing device. Each connection device can include a plurality of connector elements. Data indicative of one or more configuration parameters of the second connection device can be obtained. An operating configuration of the first connection device can be determined based at least in part on the data indicative of the one or more configuration parameters. Operation of the first connection device can be controlled based at least in part on the operating configuration.

In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a printed circuit board. The apparatus also includes a first connector coupled to the printed circuit board. The first connector is configured to couple the apparatus to a computing device. The apparatus further includes a second connector coupled to the printed circuit board. The second connector is configured to couple the apparatus to a data storage device. The apparatus further includes a securement mechanism comprising a first portion and a second portion. The securement mechanism is movable about the apparatus between a first position and a second position. The first portion is configured to maintain the securement mechanism at the first position. The second portion is configured to secure the data storage device to the apparatus when the securement mechanism is in the first position.
