20210298189 · 2021-09-23 ·

A base module for a switch-cabinet system, having a plurality of communication units and connection elements for a plurality of functional modules. The connection elements are configured to engage in module-connection elements of functional modules. Each connection element has at least one data connection. Each communication unit is in each case connected to at least one data connection of a connection element. The communication units are connected to one another by a data bus. The base module has a first field-bus connection. The data bus is connected to the first field-bus connection to connect the communication units to a field-bus.

INPUT/OUTPUT SYSTEM

An I/O system having redundant removable and/or replaceable components. Each of the removable/replaceable components can be removed by displacement parallel to a common axis. An I/O device having an I/O base with a lock-out toggle to prevent installation of one or more I/O modules to the I/O base unless a ground screw has been secured to supporting structure.

DISTRIBUTED MODULAR INPUT/OUTPUT (I/O) SYSTEM WITH REDUNDANT ETHERNET BACKPLANE NETWORKS FOR IMPROVED FAULT TOLERANCE

A modular I/O system for an industrial automation network includes a network adapter including first and second adapter modules, wherein each adapter module is configured for connection with an industrial network. The I/O system further includes a first I/O device with first and second I/O modules each configured for operative connection to a controlled system for input/output of data with respect to the controlled system. The I/O system further includes first and second independent backplane data networks that connect each of the first and second adapter modules to each of the first and second I/O modules. The network adapter includes first and second removable backplane network switches and the first I/O device includes third and fourth removable backplane network switches that establish the backplane networks. The backplane network switches can be Ethernet gigabit switches.

ISOLATED POWER SMART TERMINAL BLOCK

A modular I/O device includes a terminal base with a terminal block that includes a plurality of wiring connectors. An auxiliary wiring device includes a plurality of auxiliary wiring connectors and is selectively physically connectable to the terminal base in an operative position and selectively physically removable from the terminal base. The terminal block and auxiliary wiring connector can be coupled to an I/O module. One or more of the I/O module terminal block and auxiliary wiring connector can include electrical or electronic components included converters, fuses, switches, etc.

Selector for field devices

A selector is provided for configuring field devices in a control system. A set of pins is connected to the field device. The field device configuration can be changed by interconnecting different pins in the pin set. Multiple pin selectors are provided with different arrangements of connectors for interconnecting the pins. Thus, the field device may be easily configured by connecting a particular pin selector onto the pins that matches the desired configuration.
