SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND CABLE ASSEMBLY HAVING TWISTED PAIRS

Sensor assembly includes a modular device and a cable assembly configured to communicatively couple the modular device and a control system and transmit digital signals therethrough. The cable assembly includes a cable jacket surrounding a channel and a twisted pair extending through the channel. The coated twisted pair includes first and second signal wires that each include a respective signal conductor and an insulation layer that surrounds the respective signal conductor. The coated twisted pair also includes a ground conductor. The first and second signal wires are twisted about one another. A twist exterior is defined by corresponding exterior surfaces of the first and second signal wires and the ground conductor. The twist exterior is coated with a conductive material.

High density shielded electrical cable and other shielded cables, systems, and methods

A shielded cable includes adjacent first and second conductor sets, each conductor set includes a pair of insulated conductors. At least 90% of a periphery of each conductor set is encompassed by a shielding film. The cable also includes first and second non-conductive polymeric films disposed on opposite sides of the cable. The polymeric films include cover portions and pinched portions. In transverse cross section, the cover portions of the polymeric films in combination surround the conductor sets, and the pinched portions of the polymeric films in combination form pinched portions of the cable on each side of the cable. When the cable is laid flat, a center-to-center spacing of the pair of insulated conductors for the first conductor set is ?1 and a center-to-center spacing of the first and second conductor sets is ?. ?/?1 is less than 4.

A cable includes a pair of insulated core wires extending parallel to each other, each of the insulated core wires having a central conductor and a core insulation layer wrapped around the central conductor, an inner insulation layer wrapped around the core insulation layers, a metal shielding layer wrapped around the inner insulation layer, an outer insulation layer wrapped around the metal shielding layer, and a single drain wire disposed between the metal shielding layer and the outer insulation layer. The core insulation layers of the pair of insulated core wires abut against each other at a pair of first sides of the core insulation layers facing toward each other. The single drain wire is located at a second side of the core insulation layer of one of the pair of insulated core wires facing away from the other of the pair of insulated core wires in a radial direction.

SHIELDED ELECTRICAL CABLE

A shielded electrical cable is disclosed and includes a plurality of separate individual conductor sets. Each conductor set extends along a length of the cable and includes two or more insulated conductors, at least one uninsulated drain grounding wire, and electrically conductive first and second shielding films. The first and second shielding films include cover portions and pinched portions. Each pinched portion includes an edge extending along the length of the cable. An electrically conductive multilayer third shielding film is wrapped at least once around the plurality of separate individual conductor sets along the length of the cable and includes a substrate layer, an electrically conductive third shielding layer disposed on the substrate layer, and an intumescent layer disposed on the substrate layer and comprising an intumescent material.

The wrapping portion longitudinally wraps around both the first insulator and the second insulator in the direction parallel to axes of the cores, such that a space is formed between the shielding sheet, the first surface, and the second surface. The first end portion and the second end portion bend and enter the space.

A cable may include a plurality of twisted pairs of individually insulating electrical conductors, and a respective individual shield formed around each of the twisted pairs. Additionally, each individual shield may include electrically conductive material that is continuous in a longitudinal direction. An overall shield may be formed around the plurality of twisted pairs and individual shields. The overall shield may include a dielectric layer, a first layer of electrically conductive material that is continuous in the longitudinal direction formed on a first surface of the dielectric layer, and a second layer of electrically conductive material that is continuous in the longitudinal direction formed on a second surface of the dielectric layer opposite the first surface. The first and second layers of electrically conductive material and each of the individual shields may be in electrical contact with one another. Additionally, a jacket may be formed around the overall shield.

A ground strap for grounding electrical cables for protection against at least one of EMI, RFI or ESD and method of construction thereof is provided. The ground strap has a wall with opposite edges extending along a lengthwise direction between opposite ends. The wall is formed from a plurality of interlaced filaments, with at least some of the plurality of interlaced filaments including a plurality of electrically conductive filaments interlaced in electrical communication with one another.
