HIGH DENSITY SHIELDED ELECTRICAL CABLE AND OTHER SHIELDED CABLES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A shielded electrical ribbon cable includes adjacent first and second longitudinal conductor sets where each conductor set includes two or more insulated conductors. The first conductor set also includes a ground conductor that generally lies in the plane of the insulated conductors of the first conductor set. At least 90% of the periphery of each conductor set is encompassed by a shielding film. First and second non-conductive polymeric films are disposed on opposite sides of the cable and form cover portions substantially surrounding each conductor set, and pinched portions on each side of each conductor set. When the cable is laid flat, the distance between the center of the ground conductor of the first conductor set and the center of the nearest insulated conductor of the second conductor set is 1, the center-to-center spacing of the insulated conductors of the second conductor set is 2, and 1/2 is greater than 0.7.
CABLE WITH VARIABLE PITCH
A high frequency cable may include at least one insulative strip wrapped around its cable shield with a non-uniform pitch. Cables may include at least one signal conductor, an insulator around the at least one signal conductor, and a cable shield that surrounds the at least one signal conductor. Pitch of an insulative strip may indicate a distance between edges of successive wrappings about the cable. Cables described herein may be manufactured with a non-uniform pitch, and the non-uniform pitch reduces signal attenuation at certain high frequencies. Because the cables described herein have lower attenuation at those high frequencies, the cables may transmit higher bit rate signals, allowing the cable to transfer more data between high performance electronic components.
Multi-layered, shielded and grounded cables and related methods
Data/telecommunication cables that include one or more layers of an integral, bonded electromagnetic shield are described. The shield may be configured to form an electrical ground path.
Cable and Cable Assembly
A cable includes at least two conductive wire cores spaced apart from each other and extending in a longitudinal direction of the cable, and an interior insulation structure circumferentially wrapped around and contacting each of the at least two conductive wire cores to fix the at least two conductive wire cores. The interior insulation structure is a foamed insulation structure in which the at least two conductive wire cores are fixedly maintained. The cable further includes an internal insulation layer wrapped over and contacting the interior insulation structure on an outer side of the interior insulation structure, a first conductive shielding layer wrapped over the internal insulation layer on an outer side of the internal insulation layer, and an external insulation layer wrapped over an outside of the first conductive shielding layer.
Cable and Cable Assembly
A cable includes at least two insulated core wires, an insulation structure, a first shielding layer, a second shielding layer, and a second insulation layer. Each insulated core wire includes a conductive wire core and a first insulation layer wrapped over the conductive wire core. The insulation structure is wrapped around an outside of the at least two insulated core wires and fixedly positions the at least two insulated core wires therein. The second insulation layer is circumferentially wrapped around an outside of both the first shielding layer and the second shielding layer. Each of the first shielding layer and the second shielding layer circumferentially surrounds a portion of an outer circumferential surface of the insulation structure and together form a combined shielding layer circumferentially wrapped over the entire outer circumferential surface of the insulation structure.
MULTI-LAYERED, SHIELDED AND GROUNDED CABLES AND RELATED METHODS
Assemblies for terminating shielded cables to printed circuit boards are described. An example assembly includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a cable having a signal conductor and a shield layer surrounding the signal conductor, and a conductive strap. The conductive strap includes a top conductive element, a bottom conductive element, and a plurality of legs between the top conductive element and the bottom conductive element. The top conductive element includes a top notch, and the bottom conductive element includes a bottom notch. The assembly also includes a top solder element positioned between the top notch and the shield layer of the cable and a bottom solder element positioned between the bottom notch and the PCB.
Conductor assembly separator
A cable with a conductor assembly separator may be provided. The cable may comprise an assembly, a jacket, and a conductor assembly separator comprising an interweave assembly separator. The assembly may comprise a first conductor, a second conductor, and a ground. The interweave assembly separator may be disposed between the first conductor and the ground, the second conductor and the ground, a first side of the assembly and the jacket, and a second side of the assembly and the jacket.

A cable assembly including a cable including a plurality of conductors, and a shielding member to shield the plurality of conductors, and including a plurality of ground wires connectable to a ground electrode; and a connector including a connecting member through which an end of the cable passes, wherein the cable is configured so that ground wires of the plurality of ground wires in an end area of the cable in the connecting member cross between conductors of the plurality of conductors.
