Tobacco smoke filter

There is provided a tobacco smoke filter (1) or filter element comprising: a rod (2) of a tobacco smoke filtering material; a continuous extruded element (7) extending longitudinally of the rod (2); and a flavouring agent.

Dispenser for particulate material

A particulate material dispenser including a longitudinally extending body having a longitudinally extending base element; a tubular element extending longitudinally from the base element such that an inner wall of the tubular element defines a first cavity; a capping element which is distanced longitudinally from an end of the tubular element; a common outer wrapper which is engaged around the base element, the tubular element and the capping element, the inner wall of the common outer wrapper defining a second cavity between the tubular element and the capping element; and snuff within both the first cavity and the second cavity. The base element and/or the tubular element is porous.

A non-combustible tobacco article for use in conjunction with a heat source to produce an inhalable aerosol includes at least one tobacco derived portion, at least one distal filter portion and at least one mouth-end filter portion held together in an overwrap; the complete article having a compressibility factor in the longitudinal axis of <10%.

Machine and method for producing substantially cylindrical articles of the tobacco processing industry

A method of producing filter tips for cigarettes, each of which comprises two portions of filter material arranged on opposite ends of a portion of granular material; the first portion of filter material is wrapped in a sheet so as to obtain an intermediate element having a substantially tubular shape and an open end; the granular material and the second portion of filter material are then inserted through the open end, while the intermediate element is kept vertical with the open end facing upwards; in this way it is possible to obtain high quality filter tips at high speed.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING A FILTER ELEMENT

There is disclosed a method for making a filter element comprising the steps of: advancing two or more sheets of filtering material in a longitudinal direction; separating the two or more sheets of longitudinally advancing filtering material; gathering the separated sheets of longitudinally advancing filtering material to form a partially gathered rod of filtering material having a longitudinally extending recess; inserting an additive release vessel into the longitudinally extending recess; gathering the filtering material around the additive release vessel to close the recess and thereby form a rod comprising a longitudinally extending core of filtering material and one or more additive release vessels.

SMOKING ARTICLE FILTER WITH AMORPHOUS MAGNESIUM CARBONATE

A filter for a smoking article includes filtration material and an amorphous magnesium carbonate material contained within the filtration material. A smoking article includes a smokable material and the filter downstream of the smokable material.

A CLEANING UNIT, A TOBACCO INDUSTRY MACHINE FOR PRODUCING MULTI-SEGMENT FILTER RODS AND A METHOD FOR CLEANING A TRAIN OF ROD-LIKE ELEMENTS

A cleaning unit for tobacco industry machines, wherein the tobacco industry machine is configured to process a moving train (ST2) of rod-like elements (S1, S2) separated by compartments (105) and partially wrapped with a wrapper (101), wherein the compartments (105) are filled with a loose material (102) forming segments of the loose material (SC). The cleaning unit (104) includes an outlet partition (34) at an outlet from a cleaning zone (Z2) for limiting an uncontrolled displacement of contaminations from the cleaning zone (Z2) to a garniture zone (Z3), located above the train (ST2) of the rod-like elements and having a passage (35) through which the covering elements (10) pass.

Equipment and associated method for insertion of material into cigarette filters

Filter rods for use in the manufacture of cigarette filter elements are provided, with each rod having a longitudinal axis and incorporating a generally longitudinally extending filter material and a generally longitudinally extending strand within that filter material. A filter making unit receives a continuous supply of a filter material, and forms the filter material into a gathered composite having a continuous cylindrical shape. A continuous supply of a strand (e.g., colored thread) is provided and is introduced into the filter material gathered composite in the tongue of the filter making unit. The filter material and continuous strand positioned therein are formed into a continuous rod having the strand material laterally positioned within that rod, and the continuous rod is subdivided at pre-determined longitudinal intervals to provide a plurality of rod portions.

FILTER, AN AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING THE SAME, AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE FILTER

A filter included in an aerosol-generating article, according to embodiments, includes a first filter segment including a first filter element in which at least one heterogeneous material particle is contained, a second filter segment including a second filter element, and a wrapper wrapping the first filter segment and the second filter segment, wherein the first filter segment and the second filter segment are aligned in a longitudinal direction of the filter, and the first filter segment and the second filter segment are not physically separated.

Method for making a sub-unit of a smoking article

A method for making a sub-unit of a smoking article, specifically an HNB smoking article, includes preparing a rod segment, of the tobacco industry and wrapping a connecting strip of wrapping material round that rod segment, about a wrapping axis, in such a way that a first portion of the connecting strip is superposed on a first end of the rod segment and a second portion of it is axially protruding from the first end of the rod segment thereby defining a tubular wrapping which encloses a containment chamber. Then a filling material of the tobacco industry is placed inside the containment chamber. The method also includes a step of making a wall, transverse to the wrapping axis, defining an at least partial closure of the containment chamber, specifically by folding an end portion of the second portion the connecting strip.
