The central attachment member includes elements that provide releasable securing of the visor body to the helmet. In a preferred embodiment, a mounting shroud is present on the helmet and wherein the mounting shroud is configured to engage elements on the central attachment member so as to facilitate the operable coupling of the visor body to the mounting shroud.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FASTENING A FACEGUARD TO A HELMET
A helmet for protecting a user's head is provided with a faceguard, in which fastening of the faceguard to the helmet is facilitated, including by retention of fastening hardware (e.g., one or more fasteners) on the faceguard before the faceguard is fastened to the helmet. This may be useful for the user or other individuals, such as at a retail store or other location selling or otherwise providing the helmet and/or the faceguard.
DETACHABLY ATTACHABLE SUN VISOR FOR WIRE-FRAME SPORTS FACE MASK
A sun visor for attaching to a wire cage-type sports face mask yet readily detachable if impacted, having a curved transparent sheet that extends in a U-shape to opposing sides, a pair of attachment connectors each on an inner surface proximate a distal extent of a respective side for engaging a respective side of the cage-type wire frame face mask.
Helmet with accessory attachment rail
A protective helmet has an outer shell configured for surrounding a head of a user and at least one accessory attachment rail connected to the outer shell. The accessory attachment rail has a body having a front end, a rear end, and one or more slots between the front end and the rear end. Each of the one or more slots is configured for removably receiving at least one helmet accessory. A locking mechanism is associated with each of the one or more slots for automatically locking the at least one helmet accessory in the one or more slots upon insertion of the at least one helmet accessory within the one or more slots and for preventing removal of the at least one helmet accessory from the one or more slots. At least one connection element is provided for connecting the accessory attachment rail to the outer shell.
SELECTIVELY ATTACHABLE VISORS FOR FIELD MASKS
A visor that can be removably attached to a variety of field masks, including those used in softball and baseball and other sports, to protect the user from weather elements and minimize sun damage while not affecting play and withstanding movement. In some embodiments, the visor may include a curvilinear base having at least one recess. The visor may additionally include a brim attached to, or formed with, the base. The visor may further include a fastener received in the at least one recess, where the fastener is configured to secure the visor to the field mask.
Multi-body helmet construction and strap attachment method
A helmet may include an upper-body comprising a first outer shell coupled to a first energy-absorbing shell formed of expanded polypropylene (EPP), expanded polystyrene (EPS), expanded polyurethane (EPU), or expanded polyolefin (EPO). A lower-body may include a second outer shell coupled to a second energy-absorbing shell formed of EPP, EPS, EPU, or EPO, wherein an upper portion of the lower-body is nested within the upper-body and a lower portion of the lower-body extends to an outer surface of a lower portion of the upper-body. A strap anchor may be disposed between the upper-body and the lower-body, and be sandwiched between the upper-body and the lower-body with the strap anchor being adjacent to, and oriented towards, the lower-body. A strap may be coupled to the fastening device and coupled to the strap anchor for coupling the helmet to a head of a user.
Protective helmet with attachment mechanism for securing accessories
A protective helmet includes a shell, which defines a bottom opening and an internal cavity for receiving the wearer's head. The shell further includes a brim with a central opening defined in the brim. An attachment mechanism for securing an accessory to the shell includes one or more openings defined through the brim on either side of the central opening, wherein each of the openings includes a larger diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion, which are separated by a detent. Each opening receives a respective boss of the accessory, which can be selectively advanced from the larger diameter portion to the small diameter portion of the opening. Furthermore, the attachment mechanism includes a slot defined in and along the edge of the shell, with the slot corresponding with the central opening defined in the brim, such that the slot is configured to receive a projection extending from the accessory.
MULTI-BODY HELMET CONSTRUCTION WITH SHIELD MOUNTING
A helmet can comprise an upper-body and a lower-body nested within the upper-body. An opening can be formed within a front portion of the helmet and disposed between an outer surface of the upper-body and an inner surface of the lower-body. A first magnet can be encased within the upper-body or the lower-body and adjacent the opening. A shield can comprise a shield mount and a second magnet coupled to the shield mount that is sized to fit within the opening and to be releasably coupled to the first magnet. The first magnet and the second magnet can be self-aligned in direct alignment with eyes of a user. A third magnet can be disposed above the first magnet and aligned with the second magnet on an outer surface of the helmet out of sight from eyes of the user.
