Anti-sulphation pasting mats for lead-acid batteries

A non-woven fiber mat for lead-acid batteries is provided. The non-woven fiber mat includes glass fibers coated with a sizing composition, a binder composition, and organic active compounds, wherein the organic active compounds are effective in reducing or preventing sulphation in lead-acid batteries.

BATTERY COMPONENTS COMPRISING FIBERS

Battery components are generally provided. In some embodiments, the battery components can be used as pasting paper and/or capacitance layers for batteries, such as lead acid batteries. The battery components described herein may comprise a plurality of fibers. The battery component may include, in some embodiments, a plurality of fibers and, optionally, one or more additives such as conductive carbon and/or activated carbon. In certain embodiments, the plurality of fibers include relatively coarse glass fibers (e.g., having an average diameter of greater than or equal to 2 microns), relatively fine glass fibers (e.g., having an average diameter of less than 2 microns), and/or fibrillated fibers. In some instances, such fibers may be present in amounts such that the battery component has a particular surface area, mean pore size, and/or dry tensile strength.

A grid guidance device for guiding battery grids to a battery pasting machine. The grid guidance device includes an assemblage of components that work together to adjust a position of a platform relative to a pasting orifice of the battery pasting machine. The platform receives the battery grids over it amid use of the grid guidance device. Multiple electric motors can be provided to rotate shafts for making the position adjustments. The position adjustments can involve one or more of the following: lateral positioning of the battery grids relative to the pasting orifice, advancement and retraction positioning of the platform relative to the pasting orifice, and/or raising and lowering positioning of the platform relative to the pasting orifice.

BATTERY GRID FEEDER FOR A PASTING MACHINE

A grid guidance device for guiding battery grids to a battery pasting machine. The grid guidance device includes an assemblage of components that work together to adjust a position of a platform relative to a pasting orifice of the battery pasting machine. The hopper receives battery paste material. The hopper has an orifice plate with an orifice therein. The connector assembly is engageable with the orifice plate and disengageable therefrom. The clamp assembly is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the clamp assembly releasable secures the orifice plate to the hopper. In the second position, the clamp assembly permits removal of the orifice plate from the hopper.
