The negative electrodes comprise electroactive material particles that exhibit a core-shell structure defining a core made of a lithiated silicon-based material and a shell surrounding the core that is a bi-layer structure including first and second carbon coating layers. An electrical conductivity of the first carbon coating layer is greater than that of the second carbon coating layer. A method of manufacturing a negative electrode material is provided in which a first carbon coating layer is formed on an outer surface of a silicon-based precursor particle. The silicon-based precursor particle is exposed to a lithium source to form a lithiated silicon-based particle having the first carbon coating layer. A second carbon coating layer is formed on the first carbon coating layer over the lithiated silicon-based particle to form an electroactive material particle.

The binder includes two or more different lithium-substituted polyacrylic acids with different molecular weights. The lithium-substituted polyacrylic acids include two different lithium-substituted polyacrylic acids differing in weight average molecular weight by 500,000 or more from each other.

An anode material having 0.8≤0.06×(Dv50).sup.2−2.5×Dv50+Dv99≤12 (1); and 1.2≤0.2×Dv50−0.006×(Dv50).sup.2+BET≤5 (2), where Dv50 represents a value in the volume-based particle size distribution of the anode material that is greater than the particle size of 50% of the particles, Dv99 represents a value in the volume-based particle size distribution of the anode material that is greater than the particle size of 99% of the particles, and BET is a specific surface area of the anode material, wherein Dv50 and Dv99 are expressed in μm and BET is expressed in m.sup.2/g. The anode material is capable of significantly improving the rate performance of electrochemical devices.

The lithium ion battery provided by the application has a lower battery impedance and excellent high-temperature cycle performance.

Energy sources embodying the invention include one or more cells, where each cell includes an electrode (anode or cathode) which is a non-metal and another electrode which is a metal or non-metal, with the electrodes positioned relative to each other to produce a potential differential. The electrodes may be placed in a water solution or kept in air (dry). They may be spaced apart or be in direct contact. A conduction enhancing layer may be placed between the electrodes.

SECONDARY BATTERY AND DEVICE CONTAINING SAME

This application discloses a secondary battery and a device containing the secondary battery. A positive active material of the secondary battery includes one or more of lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide, lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide, and a modified material thereof. A negative active material of the secondary battery includes a silicon-oxygen compound and graphite. A separator of the secondary battery includes a substrate and a coating layer. The secondary battery satisfies:

SOLID-STATE BATTERY MANUFACTURING METHOD

An all-solid-state battery manufacturing apparatus disclosed herein includes a transport apparatus, a press roller, and an adhesive provision apparatus. The transport apparatus transports an active material layer. The press roller has a foil attachment surface, which is a cylindrical surface to which the current collection foil is to be attached. The press roller rotates and moves the current collection foil attached to the foil attachment surface to the surface of the active material layer being transported by the transport apparatus and presses the current collection foil and the active material layer between the press roller and the transport apparatus. The adhesive provision apparatus is provided on a movement path of the current collection foil rotated and moved by the foil attachment surface of the press roller, and provides an adhesive to the current collection foil attached to the press roller.
