An electrochemical cell is provided, which includes a cathode comprising a three dimensional (3D) porous cathode structure, an anode, an electrolyte separator, comprised of a ceramic material, located between the cathode and the anode, and a cathode current collector, wherein the cathode is located between the cathode current collector and the electrolyte separator. The 3D porous cathode structure includes ionically conducting electrolyte strands extending through the cathode from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator, pores extending through the cathode from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator, and an electronically conducting network extending on sidewall surfaces of the pores from the cathode current collector to the electrolyte separator.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL HAVING DOMAINS OF LITHIUM OXOMETALLATES IN A MATRIX
Composite materials having domains of lithium oxometallates in an electronically conductive matrix, and methods of making such composite materials are provided. Exemplary lithiated metals oxides include, for example, doped or undoped lithium oxometallates of the formula Li.sub.8M.sup.aO.sub.6 and/or Li.sub.7M.sup.bO.sub.6, wherein M.sup.a represents Zr and/or Sn, and M.sup.b represents Nb and/or Ta. Such composite materials can be used in lithium ion batteries, for example, as an active material such as an electrode that can store charge in the form of lithium ions.

This application relates to the battery field, and specifically, to a positive electrode plate, an electrochemical apparatus, and an apparatus. The positive electrode plate in this application includes a current collector and an electrode active material layer disposed on at least one surface of the current collector, where the current collector includes a support layer and a conductive layer disposed on at least one surface of the support layer. A single-sided thickness D2 of the conductive layer satisfies 30 nm≤D2≤3 μm. A thickness D1 of the support layer satisfies 1 μm≤D1≤30 μm. The support layer is made of a polymer material or a polymer composite material. The electrode active material layer includes electrode active materials, a binder, and a conductive agent.
Reinforced current collecting substrate assemblies for electrochemical cells
Provided is a current collecting assembly for use in an electrochemical cell. In some embodiments, the current collecting assembly comprises a current collecting substrate having a first side defining a first surface, and a second side defining a second surface. Each of the first and second surfaces defines a surface area. The current collecting assembly further comprises a first assembly of reinforcing structures disposed on and attached to the first side of the current collecting substrate. The current collecting substrate comprises a conductive material. The first assembly of reinforcing structures comprises a first set of reinforcing structures. The first set of reinforcing structures comprises a first polymer material. The first assembly of reinforcing structures mechanically reinforces the current collecting substrate.
ELECTROCHEMICAL ELEMENT COMPRISING CELLULOSE NANOFIBER SEPARATOR AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
The present invention relates to an electrochemical element and a method for producing same, the electrochemical element comprising: electrodes comprising a composite of active material and conductive material having a nanofiber structure; and a cellulose nanofiber separator combined with the electrodes. The electrochemical element according to the present invention obviates the need for separate binder and electrode current collector, has a stable interfacial surface due to the physical union of the separator and electrode, can assure superb mechanical and physical properties, and can maintain stable battery performance even against deformations due to a variety of external impact.
Electrochemical element comprising cellulose nanofiber separator and method for producing same

An electrode for a non-aqueous secondary battery includes a current collector foil, and an electrode mixture layer provided on the current collector foil. The electrode mixture layer includes powder particles. The powder particles contain any one of metals or a metallic compound of zirconium, hafnium, zirconium carbide, hafnium carbide, and tungsten carbide as a conductive material.
Electrochemical device comprising thin porous metal sheet
Electrochemical device using thin micro-porous metal sheets. The porous metal sheet may have a thickness less than 200 μm, provides three-dimensional networked pore structures of pore sizes in the range of 2.0 nm to 5.0 μm, and is electrically conductive. The micro-porous metal sheet is used for positively and/or negatively-charged electrodes by providing large specific contact surface area of reactants/electron. Nano-sized catalyst or features can be added inside pores of the porous metal sheet of pore sizes at sub- and micrometer scale to enhance the reaction activity and capacity. Micro-porous ceramic materials may be coated on the porous metal sheet at a thickness of less than 40 μm to enhance the functionality of the porous metal sheet and may function as a membrane separator. The electrochemical device may be used for decomposing molecules and for synthesis of molecules such as synthesis of ammonia from water and nitrogen molecules.
