Footwear sole plate with non-parallel waves of varying thickness
11653714 · 2023-05-23 · ·

A sole structure for an article of footwear has a sole plate that may include a midfoot region, and also may include a forefoot region or a heel region. The sole plate may have a foot-facing surface with ridges extending longitudinally in the midfoot region and in the forefoot region or heel region. The sole plate may have a ground-facing surface with grooves extending longitudinally in correspondence with the ridges. A thickness of the sole plate from the foot-facing surface to the ground-facing surface may vary at a transverse cross-section of the sole plate through the ridges, or along a length of at least one of the ridges, or at both the transverse cross-section and along the length of the at least one of the ridges. The ridges may have crests at least some of which may extend non-parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction of the sole plate.

SOLE STRUCTURE FOR ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR

A sole structure for an article of footwear includes an upper cushioning element including a first material having a first durometer, a lower cushioning element including a second material having a second durometer and defining a plurality of first engagement elements, and a plate disposed between the upper cushioning element and the lower cushioning element, the plate including a plurality of second engagement elements cooperating with the first engagement elements to position the plate with respect to the lower cushioning element.

A sole structure for an article of footwear comprises a midsole system with a plurality of cushioning units, each having multiple cushioning layers configured to work together as a system to absorb a compressive load, such as a dynamic compressive load due to impact with the ground, in stages of progressive cushioning according to the relative stiffness values of the layers. Various midsole systems disclosed include isolated cushioning units, linked cushioning units, sole layers having stanchions interfacing with the midsole system, midsole systems with sole layers having keyed and unkeyed portions overlying a bladder, and midsole systems with vertically-stacked cushioning units disposed in inverted relationship to one another.

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shoe sole including an outsole, a midsole is positioned on the outsole, and an insole positioned on the midsole. A foot surround is attached to and extends upwardly from the shoe sole. The foot surround includes an upper and a heal counter. The midsole has an upper surface, a lower surface, a front end, and a rear end. The midsole facilitates flexion in a first direction allowing the upper surface to become concavely arcuate along a line extending from the front end to the rear end and resists flexion in a second direction to prevent the upper surface from becoming convexly arcuate along a line extending from the front end to the rear end.

SOLE STRUCTURE OF AN ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR AND RELATED METHODS

A sole structure of an article of footwear is provided and includes a first midsole portion including a first sidewall and a second midsole portion including a second sidewall. The sole structure also includes a first sheet disposed between the first midsole portion and the second midsole portion and including a first surface and a second surface formed on an opposite side of the first sheet than the first surface. The first sheet includes one or more apertures extending through the first sheet from the first surface to the second surface. The first midsole portion and the second midsole portion are operably connected through the one or more apertures of the first sheet.

ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR

An article of footwear includes an upper and a plate having a top surface facing the upper and a bottom surface formed on an opposite side than the top surface, the plate extending from a first end in a forefoot region to a second end in a heel region. A first cushioning element is attached to the bottom surface of the plate in the forefoot region and a second cushioning element is attached to the bottom surface of the plate in the heel region, the second cushioning element being separated from the first cushioning element by a first gap formed in a mid-foot region. One or more fluid-filled bladders are each at least partially surrounded by the first cushioning element in the forefoot region and have a top surface attached to the bottom surface of the plate.

SHOE MIDSOLE

A shoe midsole composed of a foamed peroxide-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer includes a silane-grafted polyolefin component, an elastomeric component, and additives dispersed in the foamed peroxide-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer. The elastomer component includes one or more elastomeric polymers selected from the group consisting of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, polyolefin elastomers, olefin block copolymer, polyoctenamer, anhydride modified ethylene copolymers, ethylene propylene diene terpolymer, and combinations thereof. The silane-grafted polyolefin component and elastomer component are crosslinked with C—C bonds. Advantageously, the foamed peroxide-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer is substantially free of silane crosslinking as formed and substantially free of water. Characteristically, the additives and one or more elastomeric polymers are in sufficient amount that a melting temperature of crystalline regions in the foamed peroxide-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer is greater than 100° C. as measured by differential scanning calorimeter thermographs.
