An outsole has an elastic structure arranged between a base plate and a lower midsole portion in a thickness direction of a sole structure. The elastic structure includes a plurality of elastically deformable first columnar portions and at least one coupling portion for coupling the first columnar portions adjacent to each other. The elastic structure is configured such that the coupling portion couples second end portions of the first columnar portions adjacent to each other, and that the second end portions are connected, together with the coupling portion, to the lower midsole portion.

Golf shoes having improved constructions are provided. The golf shoes include upper, midsole, and outsole sections. The upper may be made of a soft, breathable leather material. The midsole includes an upper region formed from a first material such as a foamed ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA); and a lower region formed from a second material such as a foamed ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), wherein the materials have different hardness levels. A fiber-reinforced composite plate may be disposed in the midsole. The outsole contains different traction members arranged in a precise geometric structure that helps provide improved stability and traction.

A sole structure for an article of footwear comprises a midsole body having a proximal surface and a distal surface. The sole structure includes an outsole having a proximal surface and a distal surface, wherein the proximal surface of the outsole is secured to the distal surface of the midsole body. The outsole includes external flex grooves at the distal surface of the outsole, and the midsole body includes internal flex grooves at the proximal surface of the midsole body. The internal flex grooves overlie and are aligned with the external flex grooves such that the sole structure articulates at the external flex grooves both in dorsiflexion and in plantarflexion.

A dual-layered midsole for footwear includes an internal midsole layer and an external midsole layer, which are coupled to and separated by a Strobel board. The internal midsole layer may compress and expand with the movement of a wearer of an article of footwear including the dual-layered midsole, while the external midsole may provide stability and cushion for the wearer. Materials selected for the internal and external midsole layers may provide tuned viscoelastic properties to different areas of the midsole as a function of midsole layer thickness at each sole area.

Embodiments described herein also relate to an improved footwear including a multi-layered midsole configured to provide improved support and comfort during use, while also providing antimicrobial protection to the user's foot.

A method of forming a plate for an article of footwear is disclosed. The method includes applying a first strand portion to a base layer including positioning adjacent segments of the first strand portion to form a first layer on the base layer. The adjacent segments of the first strand portion having a greater density across a width of the plate between a medial side and a lateral side at a midfoot region of the plate than at a forefoot region of the plate and at a heel region of the plate. The method also includes applying at least one of heat and pressure to the first strand portion and to the base layer to conform the first strand portion and the base layer to a predetermined shape.

A plate for an article of footwear includes a substrate, a first strand portion attached to the substrate via first stitching, and a second strand portion disposed on the first layer. The first strand portion includes first segments that each extend between two different locations along the substrate to form a first layer on the substrate. The second strand portion includes second segments that each extend between two different locations along the substrate to form a second layer on the first layer.
